Hi guys

I finally got my Thunderverb 50 and a PPC212 cab. However I am having a bit of a puzzle over the cab.
I got some custom covers for the head and cab and the head one fits perfectly the cab one is to big.
I have been checking and I am not sure if I have a correct size cab.

Its says on the palte on the back that it is a PPC212 but it is made in China not the UK.
Also the dimesnions don't match any of the 212 cab dimesions on the Orange site.
Mine is 66 cm wide 15 cm deep and 52 cm high
On the Orange site they state
52 x 24 x 24 cm W x H x D for the PPC212 OB
and 78 x 53 x 38 cm for the PPC212.
I think mine is the OB cab as it is not solid on the back but has a space around the halfway mark and looks very similar to the top cab in the photo on Jacco428's post in the speaker cable thread.

Incidentaly I use a Planet Waves 14 AWG speaker cable for connecting my head and cab together and everything sounds sweet.

Any suggestions or help would be great. As the company who made the covers is offering to make a new one for the cab if I can confirm the size of the cab.

thanks

Adele

Sounds like the OB is a different size to the regular, interesting. Why not bust out a measuring tape, that way you'll know the exact dimensions of yours!

sorry, i just checked the Orange website and it does look like you have the OB cab (as the combos are smaller than the standard 2x12 cabs!) are you sure you measured it right?

Hehe, well, it makes more sense to use a closed back one with an AD30TC, to get the best of both worlds sound-wise ;) Though if they are the same size, I get your point visually!

yeah.. the 2x12 ob is the same size as the 2x12 combos... so smaller than the ppc212 were used to seeing..

best place for dimentions is the german orange site

apparently these are the dimentions of the ppc212OB.. and im no german expert.. but im guessing 'gewicht' means weight! :D
BxHxT 660 x 520 x 300 mm; Gewicht 20 kg

Hi Guys

Thanks for your responses.
Yes I am sure I measured my cab right and it match's the dimensions on the German Orange site. Thanks Mr William.:)
But what puzzles me is that on the UK Orange site they state
52x24x24 cm for the PPC212 OB
They have either measured wrong or its a typo.
But not to worry I can send the sizes to the custom cover manufacturer and get the right size then again I just might order the proper size PPC212 and another cocer for the OB and have a full stack instead of a half stack:D
Then I would have to employ a roadie or get the guys in the band to carry them. LOL

Thanks again

I think the OB cabinets are smaller than the standard 212, being combo sized and all.

Bring out a measuring tape! :D

Almost every amp's page on the orange website has inaccurate details, sadly... you'd think they'd get round to fixing it as it makes them look like they don't know what they talking about, doesn't exactly inspire confidence in new buyers.

Exactly, it has the same dimensions than 2x12 Orange combos(Orange official site is wrong), so those PPC212 open back's dimensions are different from PPC212 closed back's ones.
I would like to know about its sound by the way, quality...
i need to replace my PPC412, i'm interested in this PPC212-OB, thanks!

Hey is the OB as Split back style or is it completely open? By split back i mean 2 piece with a hole in the mid section...

I actually thought that the cabs were built in UK, but maybe they aren't anymore??

Amps are built in China though, exceptions are the custom heads.

The V30 speakers are made in UK, but some of the Celestion speakers are made in china as well.
