I know I am! I've never seen them. Sure, I would've liked to been old enough to catch Bon Scott, but hey them's the breaks...

They're coming to N.C in December (IIRC); I'll be going if they do.

I think they sold out in 2 minutes here in Vancouver. I'm not a huge fan personally, just because of the sheer lack of musical development. I mean, how many bands have new songs that sound uncannily like their songs from the 70s?

The old argument... :D That is one reason why I love AC/DC actually. Different strokes for different folks, I s'pose...

If you've never seen them I almost recommend you just buy "Family Jewels" or "Plug me In" and chill at home with them at their height. Sure, they are still a great band but Brain Johnson sounds more and more like he's gargling with Drano and Angus has a crew cut now and can't be doing the duck walk for 3 hrs. anymore. I'm sure they will still blow away ANY band currently touring but they will still be not all they once were. That's why Robert Plant didn't tour under the Led Zeppelin name with Page and Jones. They are a nostalgia act now. Zeppelin BETTER not even consider another singer and go out and call themselves "Zeppelin". ESPECIALLY Chris Cornell or someone like that. Eddie Vedder?! It's good that some of these bands keep going and it's also sad sometimes (the Stones).

Hey that's cool. There have been plenty of bands that strayed from their original sound and ended up sounding terrible.

I'm going to the show here in Toronto in November. 26 rows back and right beside a walkway going into the crowd. Can't Wait!! Thet added a 2nd show in January because this one sold out so fast. They played Toronto a few years back for a SARS concert with The Rolling Stones Headlining and actually stole the show from the Stones!! This isn't my opinion, I wasn't there to see it, this is what was reported in all the news papers!

Yeah, I'm all about musical growth, I just don't see these guys evolving into anything other than what they've always been. So, I just appreciate them for what they are.

I have Family Jewels BTW. I wish they would put Let There Be Rock on DVD. I had the VHS back in the day. Now that's a F-ing concert!

Dude, Brian Johnston is THE ONE guy that could've ever taken over when Bon Scott passed away.

Watch the AC/DC "Behind The Music" and if you're not a fan, you will be one at the end of the program.

Here's a link (6 parts, here's #1, you can find the rest.)

Love 'em! Powerage is my favortie album

I've seen them a few times. Best was Halloween in '88....Front row for the Heat Seeker tour at the Frank Erwin Center here in Austin. Good lord...that was 20 years ago!

I saw "Let there be Rock" when it was in the theatres YEARS ago when I was little. I LOVE that movie. All 11 parts are on youtube. AC/DC is one of my favorite "desert island" bands. I just feel that these bands that were AMAZING rockers in the day come back to tour in their "golden years" and while they are still above and beyond anything out now, for people to see them for the first time and to come away with an impression of a bunch of 60 year old as what they represent is not good. They tour for THEMSELVES more than anything. I dont mean for money. They miss the crowd and the feeling they get and I dont blame them. It's just funny how expensive concerts have gotten (and not in proportion to the inflation of normal things) and how much worse they are. On the "Plug me In" DVD for AC/DC they show a ticket from '78 and it was like $2.50!! Now the $100+ ticket prices are not in proportion to normal increases. A $2.50 ticket in '78 would be about $25-35 now tops. And '78 AC/DC is eff-ALL better than 2008 AC/DC. And I love AC/DC. Always have. Even in the early mid 90's when they were OUT and s--- like Nirvana was all the rage. Now alot of people are into them (especially kids) because they sell alot of T-Shirts, which look "cool" to these kids.
quote:

I totally agree about Brian Johnson. I love him. When I first heard him sing I was amazed that a guy could sound so aggressive and ballsy yet be melodic. He definitely is the one guy who could have carried them after Bon. Just like I couldn't imagine Brian singing "Long way to the top", I couldn't imagine Bon singing "Shook me all night". But after "For those about to Rock" AC/DC jumped the shark (except for Flick of the Switch). And as far as musical growth for a band...that is not always good. The Beatles went from "I wanna hold your heand" to "The White album" and that is musical growth. Just as Floyd went from "The Bike song" (which is great) to "DSOTM" and "The wall". But bands like AC/DC have stuck to their guns and I respect them for that. Metallica's musical growth sucks ass!! It doesn't work to "grow" with certain rock bands. Especially when they are known to be "heavy" or hard. Slayer is still decent. They aren't doing andymore "Reign in Blood"s but they have also stuck to their guns and know what their fans want and still sound pretty effing good....although the subject matter can get boring.
quote:

I do agree that Brian Johnson is the only guy who could have filled those shoes. Here's a little Bon Scott for ya:
