He is a great guitarist but it was me who wore a leather jacket with a tophat and long frizzy hair, playing a tobacco sunburst Les Paul. I wore a concho belt I bought in Hollywood, he put his concho belt on the tophat, the only difference. I was the front man, Rex Velvet was my name. Slash may be a better name, but I was the original. The thing is, if I dressed like I did in the 80s now, people would call me a Slash copy, but it's just not true. I was the original Slash. I can back it up as well. It still pisses me off but I do have the satisfaction that people remember me. I am not famous but I have many fans in Houston. They wore out my tapes of original songs. They still call me the most original act to take the stage. I may get flack for this post but it's all the truth!!! Slash ripped me off.

I played a Les Paul standard through a Marshall slant 412 cab with a Vox Scorpion head and a BK Butler/Chandler tube driver. If I sound bitter maybe I am. He is rich and highly respected, I am a teacher with a bachelor's degree in music and he's a famous guitarist. I am legendary only to those in Houston who know. I am making a comeback at 45 years old. I still have my tophat but I'm not sure if I want to be called a Slash ripoff when it was him who ripped me off. He saw me play in Houston as did ZZ Top, the Galactic Cowboys and Kings X. I have press clippings from the 80s describing my, at the the time, original look. I know he saw me and ripped me off, I just know it.

It sounds like the rant of a drunk person. IMO.
