Where can I find a decent Power cable for my AD30? Will just any radio shack one be fine or is it worth getting a higher quality cable?

I plan on getting a Furman surge block as my source for both amps and want to make sure I don't run into hum problems

Hmmm....
I've soldered one together myself, once.
Thick wire and heavy duty plugs. Should outlive the amp, and probably me.....

Use heavy gauge wire for least amount of electronic interference. The lower number gauge the heavier it is (i.e 16awg is heavier than 22awg). Generally the thicker the wire casing the heavier it is as well, but not always.

I have had some good luck getting spare power cords from old computer monitors and housings. Found a couple of real long (longer than orignal) cords and they are of a thick gauge. I suggest you stop by your local pc repair shop and see what they got lying around, it just might save you some cash and they may just give you a couple.

i've heard using a chord from a computer is a very bad idea for guitar amps. however, you might look into PA power leads or just go down to your local music store and see if they've got anything good kicking around.

Never heard that before about the computer cord, but I have been using one on my marshall head for the last three years and (knock on wood) no troubles yet. I actually used it for an outdoor gig today but I will now do some investigating to see what I can find.

Wire gage isn't going to take care of electrical interference, only shielding can do that. Since this is 120v AC, we're not too worried about noise getting in at this point anyhow, that's filtered in the amp itself.

I found a long (10' or so) cable at the last place I worked. They exist, but you might have to hunt around on Mouser or Radio Shack. You could make your own as well.

yup i've been using long cables from a plasma screen and bought a spare out of maplin. very cheap, and great to have a long lead which allows me to put the amp where i want on the stage. and PC store will carry them, check the fuse rating and off u go! :D

P.S. dont forget to pickup a surge protector too! always worth having.
