How does this sound as compared to the JCM 2000? I really like how the JCM 2000 distortion channel sounds. Does it sound anything like that? I'm kind of debating on buying a JCM 2000 or an AD 140 HTC!

My 140TC doesn't have quite as much gain as my friend's JCM 2000. Also, with the mid turned all the way down on both amps, the Orange has a bit more mid.

The sound I am going for is a weezer kind of tone (from pinkerton and blue album era). Would I be able to achieve this sound with an AD140 HTC?

i dont think so. when i played through an ad140htc at the store, i definitely didn't get a =w= vibe from it. maybe with some pedals you could make it sound like that, but that defeats the whole purpose. the best way to get the classic weezer sound would be to get a marshall JCM 900 SL-X 100 watt head. they have that great old weezer chunk sound to them. they don't cost all that much either, ive seen them used for $500-$600 dollars. the ad140htc is too chimey and clear to get the garage band sound that WAS weezer. save your money and get the marshall. just my opinion. why dont you try out an ad140htc and see for yourself? that is really the only way to know for sure.

Well, I used the Orange AD 30 HTC and i liked the clean channel but the distorted channel wasn't exactly what i was looking for. Thanks for the info. I think I'll probable go with a JCM 900 slx, because I hear the distortion is just over the top and sounds phenominal. I hear the clean channel is just semi good, but I mainly use distortion. Thanks for all the info. You've been very helpful.
