A few of us got together here in Oklahoma to have what's called an Ampfest.

Basiclly, people bring amps and demo them for other people...

I took my TSL, my Orange, and there was also a Vetta-II, a Bogner XTC 101B, a Bogner XTC Classic, a Soldano SLO, a '59 Bassman RI, and a VHT Ultralead.

I'm not really going to compare them all to the orange, but HOLY SMOKES this amp SINGS when turned up!

We were running the gain @ about 2:00, with the volume knob @ 12:00, into my G12H-30 cab. WOW! I also ran the clean channel maxed on volume - man, it can get some sweeeeeeeet distorted tones out of it!!!

I was happy with my Orange Rockerverb 100 before, but MAN, I don't think I've heard better tones. I'm going to have a HARD time keeping it turned down now!!!

I told you guys -- this amp cannot be appreciated at lower volumes. My RV50H + PPC 412's volume never drops below 11:00...even at my house, anymore! I run the gain on 2:00-3:00 and I'll be damned if this thing isn't the best sounding amp I've ever heard. Get that volume anywhere from 12:00 to 2:00 and it's a thing of beauty!

Good thing I live out in the middle of nowhere and the nobody is ever home -- otherwise I would probably be in jail right now!

Of course I'm a little worried about hearing loss too.

Next to come -- a second PPC 412 and a flight case with rollers so I can move the whole thing out onto the deck and play outside with my drummer. Small woodland creatures beware.

Just replied on your thread. I've owned or played most of those other amps before and sold them. I do love a lot of Matchless amps and always like having one (or something like it) around. I finaly sold my '92 SC30 in favor of a Roccaforte Rockie (a lot like the SC30 clean...but mo betta low-end..kinda Marshall-like when you crank it up) but their xC30, Lightning, and one or two other models are are really outstanding.

But for channel switchers...man..the Rockerverbs are THE SH*T AFAIC. The best clean channel of the bunch. IMO, better than the SLOs, both XTCs (by a MILE), better than the Ultra Leads, way better than the Marshall. The OD channel is outstanding too. Different personality...does everything great from mild crunch to full on metal. And sooooo easy to dial in. No push buttons, dip switches, zillion knobs...It's just hard to make it sound bad. Loop works great; master is totally useable. Just all around great amps.

Leon,

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- the amount of knobs, switches, inputs, buttons, loops, and 14 way toggles on Mesa Boogie and Marshall TSL amps just frighten me.

Give me an Orange any day -- in fact I haven't found a bad setting on the amp yet. Well except for off!

I like my Orange more than my TSL, but still, the TSL is a great amp in it's own right - power, balls, 3 channels, and quite a lot of flexability.
The Orange doesn't touch the 3rd channel, and the flexability of the TSL, but it has the same power, and more balls...that's for sure =)

Permanent hearing damage, loss of balance, reduced brain power... or maybe that's just me after half a shandy.

Billy left his AD30TC at my house so guess what I did all afternoon? Don't panic Bill, I didn't mess with your settings. I had my own little ampfest with the Orange and my 50 watt Marshall JCM 900 (twin combo w/reverb). I love my Marshalls, but the only advantage my amp has over the AD30TC is reverb, which I never use much. The Orange has full setting capabilities on BOTH channels. More bottom end and the look. It's cool looking!!! Yes, that's a biggie in my book. Thanks alot Bill,(YOU B*ST*RD)! If the wrong people see this post I'll get tossed out of the Marshall club. Now I have Orange envy. Well, it's off to Ebay.
