Hi

Looking to beef up the distortion on my AD30 for a couple of songs and i'm looking more for a mean balls to the wall distortion, not so much super high gain.

I don't need gain; i need distortion.

Thanks
My name is Alex. I used to have an AD30HTC, but now I have an RV50 and PPC212.

I'd suggest a boost over a distortion for that situation. Something to push it over the edge.

Have been through a lot of distortion boxes trying to get a good pedal distortion with the AD30TC - my clear favourite so far is the Barber Trifecta, which is billed as a 'fuzz for people who don't like fuzz' - it's got that thick, ballsy fuzziness without the usual flurpy (just invented that word ;D) bottom end. Try one out, you won't be disappointed!

I really enjoy using my Xotic pedals in my AD30. BB Preamp and RC Booster. It's like they were made for the AD30!

I agree with the Xotics, I use my BB Preamp on top of my existing mid gain sound to achieve thicker or more biting sounds. You can also use it on a clean channel like a distortion pedal and get a great distorted tone.

I've been impressed with the Emma Reezafratzitz i've got recently as a distortion pedal... might do you well.

A clean boost would also be excellent, but unfortunately to get that nice meaty tone comes a nice hike in the volume too.

I'd use a boost as well. Zvex Super Hard On (SHO). It makes the AD30 sound screaming angry.

put a BOSS DS 1 in front of my AD and i swear it sounds like a rockerverb 50 now. i A/B'd with my buddy who brought over his head and we were stunned at how close the sounded. he always suspected that the rockerverb had a solid state gain stage that orange wasn't letting on about. maybe he's right

I have pretty much cleared my board of distortion pedals,
except for the Emma and the Barber Direct Drive.
