I don't use the FX loop on my RV50 so I've never given much thought to the tube in there. I've been using an NOS Mullard 12AT7 just because I had two, the other was in the reverb driver.
I pulled the FX loop tube to find out something for myself, and the amp does not work without this tube. I thought it would not be in the signal path if not using the loop, but the amp won't work at all without something in this position.
Unlike the reverb driver. I pulled it and the amp works fine, with or without the reverb "on" via the footswitch. You just don't have any reverb, but the amp works. So it seems that this tube is only in the signal path when reverb is actually on, right?
Anyway just thought I'de mention this if anyone has been curious.
