its july 10th. im turning 17. so im thinking about what i should ask for...

1. theres a niiiice epi LP in my local shop that has all new wiring and duncan '59's (which are my all time favorites) and its had alot of work done on it so i think its worth it. its goin for $659 or something like that...so i may ask for that.

2. or i can ask for a 2nd avatar contemp 1x12 to complete my TT mini full stack

3. i could ask for an acoustic like an art&luthrie or something since i really dont have an acoustic to call my own...

4. i can ask for a nice condenser mic like an AT4040 or something of that sort since i only have an vintage turner mic and an sm57, which doesnt really do vocals and acoustic as well as a condenser would. i think....

5.or if my parents dont feel like spending alot of money ill just ask for a sunny day delay

SO MANY OPTIONS!

any suggestions???

It kinda makes me sick... thinking about how many hours I'd have to spend at work to get any of that stuff. I sure as hell hope you appreciate your parents.

I used to have more Orange stuff. Now I just have a PPC412 (black), and a Micro Crush.

Um, ask for all of it and say "pick what you'd like to get me." Heh.
By the way, why are you still awake at this time on a Sunday?
Er, I guess it's Monday. Weird.

Oh, hm my high school went until the end of June.
My sleep pattern is entirely messed up because I'm awake until 4am and then wake up at 1pm. Hurray for night classes which allow me to have a messed up sleep pattern.

Haha my dad got a bicycle inner tube for his 16th birthday and a satsuma at Christmas. That was it.

Tim, do you need another 1x12? Do you play many gigs where you aren't mic'd up or do you mainly just record or play mic'd up? If so i'd go with either a new guitar or a bunch of pedals, unless you wanted another cab for recording with a different speaker? Maybe something to compliment the speaker you have in your Avatar (a V30?). If it's a V30 try out something with a tighter bass response like a V60 (they do exist honest!) or something like a Mesa C90, that'd be cool!

I'm out, too, for the summer! Teacher though- do you go to private school, just out of curiosity?

Anyway, think about what you really NEED... the 57 does work well for vocals; you already have one speaker cab, what do you have for a guitar already? I forget... What would make you inspired or a better guitarist or songwriter?

Me, I'd stay away from the Epi LP- you never get your money back on one of those. How about a few bucks more and get a Joe Strummer Tele? I love mine... so does Frank, and that has never happened before. As far as acoustics, here I wouldn't dismiss the Epi's. I've played several Epi EJ-200's and they're amazing playing and sounding guitars.

I think what I'm saying in terms of guitars, is start holding out and looking for a "real" guitar like a Fender or Gibson, etc. Something that will last you forever and hold value. For example, I'm really happy now at 52 that when I was 17 I bought a used guitar from my friend Timmy for $130. It was a stripped to the wood 1966 Stratocaster. Now, it's been refinished, and I just saw a refinished 66 Strat at Willie's Guitars for $9500.

Just a thought and happy upcoming birthday!

It all depends. Here in Massachusetts, private schools generally got out a week and a half ago- public schools are getting out today or last Friday or... depending on the town and snow days that they may have to make up. A teacher friend in Marlborough has to go in today for the last day because of having to make up snow days.

There are other parts of the country that go longer... but not too much.
