All you guys are still focusing on the wrong points of this.
None of us mere mortals are the one's this amp is for.
Studio's and Rock Star's will be the two big buyers of these amps. PERIOD!

Stop arguing over "oh it's so expensive, I don't think it's worth it, blah blah blah."
SERIOUSLY? C'mon guys. It is a great idea if your job was running a recording studio or going on world tours.
Since most of us here aren't doing that, this amp shouldn't be for us.
I think that is fairly obvious.

I think what Alex was trying to get us to see was that this was a cool idea, and in a dream world where we were world famous rock stars, many of us would buy this thing if we saw it in a store.

I guess I fall into the 50% that wouldn't buy it. That is too much to spend on a material good excluding a home or car. I'm sure it sounds amazing, but it wouldn't be something that I would feel comfortable taking to a bar to play live and I'm not one to have it sit in my home and worry about having my cat pee on it.

A couple points:

1) These amps are highly collectible because they cater to our desires to have something no one else has, ala Trainwrecks. I don't imagine them sitting in a store for more than a day. But, it doesn't necessarily serve the die-hard Orange fans, most who just can't justify the expense. If these do become like Trainwrecks, I'd be pissed...see #2.

2) I'm not into collectibles. An amp is meant to be played, not sit locked in a case or displayed under plexi-glass. People who buy it as a collectible are damn fools. Play it as an amp, not an investment (go buy stock). The problem...see #3.

3) If I had the money I would consider buying one, but I probably would not buy one, unless it was the right one. I have all the faith that Ade came up with some sweet sounding circuits, but if the amp isn't going to sound like what I want, it isn't useful to me. I'd need to know what the circuit sounds like before I could make a decision, and I just won't have the opportunity to try out one, let alone several to make an assessment. If only a few make it to the U.S. market, and all I have to go on is a gal's name, forget it. I'm after tone, not envy (see #1).

What would've been special is to have a detailed description, maybe even sound samples, of each amp before they go out to market, so I knew who to contact to get the right one for me. My point, I want to see them played, not displayed.

my thoughts anyway.

Hey man,

I don't really know the answer to your question. As far as I am aware, the only custom shop Canada has at the moment is the one already discussed on this thread (Michele, was it?).

Sorry!

Michele yes. I think Avenue Guitars ordered one... but if it's lottery than it could go anywhere... even though Avenue is the only mom & pop store I know in BC/AB that does Orange... L&M is the only other dealer I know of that carries that stuff... and Steve Duncan probably wouldn't let it get ordered.... afterall he canceled my AD140, RV100 orders when I was @ the Edmonton store....said they wouldn't sell. I but I showed him. :D

One last thing on this...

While I understand the pricing / marketing of this amp I am a little disappointed w/ the 40th Anniversary t-shirt. I contacted lisa mcintosh as per the website and she advised that the t-shirt would be $49.75 after s+h. Come on man, send some shirts to Georgia Orange so we can all have one :D.
