I have a unique opportunity to trade some musical equipment I no longer use for a mid 70's, P-Bass. The exciting aspect of this (for me) is that the body has already been stripped for refinishing so I would be able to choose the color.
The neck is in great shape and needs no work, even has lots of birdseye figuring, really nice. Also, it has a rosewood fingerboard.
Any suggestions on color? I would prefer to go with a custom or standard Fender color.
Here is my current pick, surf green with the aluminum PG.

If you haven't played a bass with a brushed aluminum pickguard, please make sure you can tolerate it before you buy one. I know it sounds crazy, but the texture of those things is enough to make almost anyone cringe. It's like a nails-on-a-chalkboard kind of thing. (you can actually file your nails on them they're so coarse.) I got a sick sinking feeling and chills whenever my fingernails came into contact with the stuff. It's evil!
I used to have more Orange stuff. Now I just have a PPC412 (black), and a Micro Crush.

That's a great point Bomber, I haven't at all.
Back in the day I used to only play with my fingers, but for the past 2 years I have switched to using a pick, just to keep up with the super fast pace of the tunes we play, and also to avoid the blood blisters I would get after almost every show, even with calluses.
My luthier has a 50's P-bass reissue with a metal PG, i'll try it out.
Thanks for the comment!

Those were the original colors, exactly.
From what I was told someone sprayed a clear coat over the sunburst and ruined the finish.
I'm not a huge fan of the 3 tone sunburst, but it is classic and i'm considering it. I'd almost rather go with the 2 tone Fender used in the 50's.

I love that photo. Surf green - faded white pickguard. I'm personally not a fan of metal pickguards, in fact, I think they're too modern/ugly/fancy/futuristic. That's not to say that those with metal pickguards have bad taste... just different taste than me. I just prefer vintage looking stuff.

All the suggestions are great and made me think and research the possible combinations.
Right now i'm still leaning tword Surf Green because it just looks so cool with the Rosewood FB. The Gibson gold is also a possibility.
Not sure about the PG though. I like the idea of having a nice solid PG made from aluminum, but a red tourtise or black would look really nice.
Once it's completed I will post some pictures.
Thanks everyone!
