To all of those who have an orange tube amp...please do yourself a favor and pick up an Ibanez t808 tube screamer! This will not only bring out and amplify the fullness and warmth of your amp but it will enable you to explore sounds that you've never heard from your amp.

Examples of sounds that you'll get with the Tube Screamer:

Blues - Clean Channel w/ Tube Screamer
Death Metal - Full Gain w/ Tube Screamer
Crunch - Very little gain w/ Tube Screamer

Not that you can't get some of these sounds without the Tube Screamer but all it does it make it all sound better!

Also I would recommend purchasing the Ibanez T808 over the T9 - The T808 has the original chip that will give you a more vintage B.B. King / SRV tone.

I have a Maxon OD808 (they made the Ibanez tubescreamers) and it gives a decent sound, however you can get better pedals. And you can't get death metal with it. Not unless you've got the gain way up on your amp to start off with.

My buddy swears by his maxon 808 in front of his 5150. It basically just gives balls and tonal options to what setting you have already from what it seems. He said he likes the maxon better? What is the difference?

Just curious, what would a ts808 do to help with an rv50? 8)

I use a Ibanez TS9 tubescreamer. Sounds great. Especially since my amp is single channel so it gives me some lead and extra drive if I need it.

I have an early Ibanez TS9 RI that was MIJ.. The board has maxon stamped on it.. I have a later issue TS9 ri, not mij, no maxon on the board, and it pales in comparison. I have a maxon OD808 also, and it's a keeper! more gain than the mij ts9. Sometimes I run the TS9 (set for clean boost) in frt of the od808 with my super reverb.. Oh Yeah!!

This old guy, hundreds of pedals, hundreds of failures,
hundreds of whatever...still thinks the Barber Small Fry
is the best out there for overall different tones and sounds!
Nils Lofgren played mine at New Years and was blown away, that
really means something to this old fart!
When one of your all time idols plays through one of your amps
and uses your pedal and keeps looking over and smiling at the me
over the tone he is getting, that means something.

Maxon used to make the Ibanez pedals until some point in the 90s, so the modern Ibanez tubescreamers are arguably inferior to the Maxons. They're just trading on past glories...

I have a ts9 in front of my R30 and to be honest i have it on most of the time, sounds great on the clean channel.

I have the drive basically on '0' and tone on full, even on these settings it gives a suprising amount of gain to push the clean channel into nice crunch and the Dirty Channel into giving some veeery nice dirty tones!

The only pedal ill never get rid of.
