So I recently put together a 1x12 cab(lopoline 1x12, used celestion gold). My friend and I spent the past two afternoons building a road case for it. I have to say, it looks pretty darn cool, and is pretty solid as well. The latches aren't very high quality or anything, but I'm not looking to take it on an airplane or any place where it's going to be all out abused. Mainly just to give my cabinet some protection while it's in the band trailer on drives to shows.
My new home made road case

Protecting your gear is important, any outer coating is better than none and you have a good hard case for your cab at a very reasonable price. Well done.
Not to wee on the matches, but those sticking out catches and handles are the very things that will rub against something else in the van that isn't in a case. So always stack things wisely. I think you might even dispense with the catches for your purpose and let gravity hold the lid down.
I make lots of cases for gear out of plywood when the cost of Flight cases isn't justified ( Who spends £140 for a flight case to protect a £180 DMX controller)?
The other thing I have is some old sleeping bags which cover things in the trailer for when they bash about even in the cases. just helps keep stuff nice.
