Hey all, first pics of my 'new' SG - a 2002 standard in aged cherry (apparently) and with a factory fitted ABR-1, which is a bit unusual - I've been on to Gibson and they reckon it could have been a special order, or they may have just stuck it on by accident. Anyway, I'm liking it, nice rounded neck profile, plenty of cut, but don't think I'll stick with the 498T/490R pick ups, a bit high output for me... It's nearly a one piece body too, there's a piece just in line with the bridge volume pot...

That one is a real beauty.I have one, and I put the 57 classics and classic plus in it. Sounds much better now.

I was thinking about those if I could pick up a used pair - I could get a couple of custom mades for the price of new ones over here. The pics don't really show the true colour, it's less red in person, more like the orangey brown of an old faded one. Anyone come across an ABR on an SG since the 70's other than a 61 reissue or historic?

There is something about cherry red mahogany ,and Gibson does such a fabulous job with that color.

Nice grain on that one. Always need an SG in the arsenal. I use my 61 Reissue as a back up to my Les Paul.

Check out my pick below.
