I love stuff like that! It's funny to think that the "tone" a lot of people are chasing from old 70's stuff for example, was played on amps that had little quality control, through cables that were basically just regular wire, and with pickups that were wound by hand (and as such were not precise).

I guess you don't need expensive stuff to sound good!

That's it. I'm replacing all of my speaker cables with coat hangers ASAP.

I knew that I was on the right road when I got all those Heavy Duty hanger from the locla Dry Cleaner that was shutting down. The chrome HD go good with the cool factor.

Now if I can just get the right RCA jacks I am sure they will work good with the mixer and recording set up also! :D

Many years ago I got suckered into buying Monster cable for my stereo. The sales guy said, "You know how bass has a bigger sign wave than treble? Well these cables have the treble wire wrapped around the bass wire so the bass has a shorter distance to run and gets to the speaker at the SAME TIME as the treble... so they SOUND better."

Sheessh. Now I use the Home Depot stuff and I've never been able to tell the difference.

Man thats rediculous, I guess the only thing monster has better than the other guy is the build quality. I know mine havent broke at the ends like my livewires. Still not worth the money though.

I believe that article 110 percent...Those guys at music shops and GC are full of it when they tell you monster cables are so great...I will never buy another monster cable as long as I live. Haha I might switch to coat hangers!

i use planet waves cause of the circuit breakers. I have been happy with the inexpensive stuff for some time. I upgraded to PW for the ruggedness of the cables.

I use Planet Waves as well. They are very well made. No complaints over here.

Ok, I see the jab here. However, wouldnt coat hangers carry plenty of signal being such a large gauge wire ? Increased capacitance? I assume the the test would have turned out as well with a small 24 gauge wire set. Bill (Orangejuicer) are you out there?

The guage of the wire would make insanely little difference unless we were talking about very very high bandwidth/current draw or very very high frequency applications.
