What do you guys think of his tone?
Whats his setup?
My recording teacher at college keeps going on to us about how good his tone is, and I do agree, just wondered if anyone else did.

I am very jealous of that man. He's a very gifted songwriter.

Jack White's tone Silvertone twin amp which are getting harder to find at a good price a Siverface Fender Twin and old Airline plastic body 60's mail order guitar EHX big muff and at least an EHX Poly Pog octave pedal to obtain that monstrously ragged bottom end,his is one of the better raw guitar tones of the last 10 years.Recently on the Icky Thump session he has also been using a Gretsch White Penguin as well as some of the newer Eastwood stuff.

Great song writer but i hate his tone with a passion. The Muff/SF Fender twin combo is too harsh to my ears. Sounds like some horrid Marshall MG100 with the gain all the way up. Those old Airlines arent much better. He should quit those catalogue junk axes and get something decent that'll stay in tune live. Other than that i think he's awesome

I wish I could play piano, guitar, and sing all at once. Hell, I can barely do any one of those properly by itself. I love how fat/big his tone is too. To me the tone is the setup, plus the fingers of course.

Pretty much a Fender amp with a nice bright tone (or similar) would do the trick as far as amplification.
Jack White has that whole "only uses vintage weird guitars" thing going, but Eastwood and Danelectro are bringing back alot of those designs. That and Gretsch.
and of course, the EHX Big Muff Pi is essential, at the very least

I'm not always a fan of the music, but I have to say he's got real talent across the board: he can write, he can play/sing/dance/entertain, and he can record it all too. Wish I had that much talent in all those differing areas. Way cool stuff, I'd love to have a week of "hey, Jack, how would you go about doing this?..." kind of fun with the guy.
