Yeah, they wanted it bad. I couldn't handle not knowing why my B-4R had NO clarity, NO volume...NOTHING through the orange 410. I got frustrated

Congrats on your new SVT. They are standards of the industry. How is your 4/10 weight wise compared to the Orange?

Well, actually...I dig the 410 more when it comes to weight. It weighs about 20 lbs more, but it feels better distributed all together. Plus it has the tilt back with casters. A BACK SAVER!!!

I was just admiring your amp and cab in another thread and then I noticed this thread. I've just bought an Ashdown ABM 300 head and Ashdown 210t cab. Apparently Ashdown heads are likened to Ampeg but I wouldn't know as I've never tried an Ampeg. Looking at getting another cab for under the 210t, a full size 1x15. Still new to higher end bass amps but those orange cabs are tempting as I've seen someone else on this forum with an Ashdown head with an Orange Cab under it, looks nice.

So what was wrong with the Ampeg SVT-350H Head and Orange OBC-410 Cabinet combination?

what ohm inputs did your head have? did you try the cab with different heads?same problem? i would have gone with a different head it seems like you didnt upgrade at all from the 350h. but i do really like the svt 410hlf's. i was gunna get one for an alternate setup until i came across the 8x10 for half the price of a used one.

I got a WAY better head actually. the svt350 only pushed 200 solid state watts to the 8 ohm cab. the b-4r can bridge to 1000 watts at 4 ohms with my new cab.

I tried the cab with 4 heads and got the same result everytime.

I think your biggest problem lies with the Blink 182 sticker. Try removing that...

I think it was the SVT-410HLF that a local band played through the other night. It made me want to buy one for our bass player, because Peter, our bass player, is wonderful, but sometimes I just want more jive and punch from his sound!

I had an ABM 500 until it got stolen in Italy. Great head, I especially loved the built in tube drive and octave... but I wouldn't say Ashdowns sound similar to Ampegs really. Most people seem to find it harder to judge the sonic differences in bass amps, I hear it though! An all-tube bass amp is completely different to one with a solid state power section. Ampegs have a very distinctive sound - it's like 'Marshall vs Orange', both great in their own right but totally different.
