It has happened to me many times, but I just can't get rid of it for some reason. My taste always seems to change, and once it does, I immediately want to switch amps, pups, guitars, pedals, etc.--A curse, if you will.[:p]

Over and over again, I think I find problems with my amp that are easily solvable. It's always due to me overreacting, but I was wondering if any of you have been in my situation before.

Ever get tired of the Orange sound? The feel? The vibe?

By the way, I figured how to stick with my sound, so I don't think I'll be getting rid of the amp anytime soon. 8)

Yep.
My SG and my AD30TC is a match made in hell. No bottom whatsoever, undefined tone with a midrange that'll blow your ears out.
Even though my Orange sounds better with my tele, the bass response is weak at best..
The overdrive is grainy and puke-ish.
I won't sell though, just a bit dissappointed these days.

Am i nuts or is this common? Or is a tube change due?

What a coincidence! I'm in your same position. :P

I absolutely love Paul Gilbert, and I was looking for something more high gained.

Btw, isn't that his current pedal set up on your sig? :P

Possibly a tube change is needed. How were your impressions before?

Can't get sick of the Orange. I loved the TT, but wished it had EL34's at Class A.

if you think the amp doesn't have enough gain, just buy a pedal. That's what most people do anyway right? I doubt a lot of metal bands use the amp gain, it's all pedals.

Yea i really like paul gilbert and aspire someday to play at least a little bit like him.

But being able to play that fast is so far away its a only a dream atm.

I love my orange a ton and its only my lust for more gear that makes me think i need more.

And yea thats PGs pedalboard in my sig.

Well, probably, but still, sometimes a pedal isn't enough to have that sort of beefy-characteristic. Pedals can only go so far, tbh.

I always want to get new amps and sounds, just because it's really fun to try new stuff out. But I love that I can turn on my R30C and get a great sound everytime. Dependability mixed with great tone is what has kept me going through gigging for over a year now.

i don't play "metal amps" i don't want to sound like everyone else. i want my guitar playing to be heavy, but without using all the "death metal/metal-zone" etc. etc. etc. distortions. too obvious.

i like to use a lot of different stuff to get different kinds of sounds whilst still being crushing! i like fuzz pedals a lot. i have a metal muff but i'm thinking of selling it. just not my taste anymore. if i played crappy emo-hardcore (you know, those stupid odd-timed breakdowns?) i would keep it, but i like a lot of thick fuzz and experimental types of distortion and lots of pedals. i have a big muff which i like a lot. i'm planning on cranking my TT gain all the way, AS WELL AS cranking my big muff fuzz all the way too. Man, just thinking about that makes me all giddy. WATCH OUT EVERYONE! ha-ha-ha
