I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on Orange Amps through speakers other than the Vintage 30s. I would love to hear from people who have played an Orange through something like the Alnico Blues or the Celestion G12T-75s.

I like my ad30 a lot more through a Blue and a Heritage G12h than i did with the 30s. The V30s were way too peaky in the midrange. This combination has ample bass response and a great smooth tone. Plus some chime if you dial it in correctly

Tiny Terror into a Eminence Red Fang (Celestion Blue).
Smoother mids with clearer, more articulate highs. Bass response is very good. The Tiny Terror has plenty of mids to begin with, and when combined with the V30, it was just a little too much for me.
So far, I'm very happy with it.

I've just replaced the stock G12K-100 in my PPC112 with a V30. To my ears, the highs are a bit sharper using a TT through it, and for me (playing a Les Paul) that's a positive.

1X12 Mesa cab with a Mesa Black Shadow. It has a great mix of mids and highs, and the lows don't wash out.

I run my TT through a Greenback Heritage and a G12H30 Reissue in an Avatar Vintage 2x12 open back cab.

Ben,

Avoid the T75s - bit of a junk speaker for all but thrash. Tried to be a jack of all trades, and just ended up being bad at most sounds.

I have Celestion Century Vintage speakers - neodymium - and voiced somewhere inbetween a Vintage 30 and an Alnico Blue. It has the upper mid peak of the V30 smoothed out, and the top end is a bit sweeter, with the bottom end more defined.

Sounds much better for clean sounds than the V30 ever did (way too cardboard sounding), but does crunch an awful lot better than Blues, which tend to suffer from sounding thin when given too much gain.

Plus, they're 3.5kg lighter per speaker than a V30.

One of my best purchases. I now have two cabs with them in: one closed back, one combo.

Not! One of my biggest dissapointments. Of course I will state the specs becasue there are so many factors:

Ceramic magnet, 50 watt, Pre-Rola doping.

Several Eminence speakers sound good; Private Jack, Governor, Tonespotter, Canabis Rex.

Scumbacks: H75, M75...the 65 watt versions.

My favorite Celestions are Reissue Greenbacks, Heritage G12-65's, G12H30 Anniversary (well broken in).

That's about it.

Look up Freda Cabs and there are plenty of Eminence clips on his site.

The voicing of the Century Vintage Speakers sounds like exactly what I'm looking for--something that can handle the clean a bit better and not lose the crunch that the V30s provide.

As I said in another post, I'm in the studio right now and every time we go to record a slightly driven clean sound (british crunch) I keep getting put off by the "splatty" sound that the V30s are giving off. Thanks for the help!!

Ben
