I just thought, this is such a cool place to get advice or help in all aspects of life.. it might be nice to know what everyone does, and therefore what our pool of knowledge is.

I'm an Industrial Hygienist and I work for an Environmental/Safety consulting company.
I monitor Asbestos and Lead abatement projects, mold remediation work, indoor air quality, contaminated soil excavation, Hazardous waste emergency response...all sorts of stuff.
There's usually a moderate amount of hard work, usually followed by a good deal of down time. I happen to be sitting in my car at a job site right now, using the Macbook to leech off a car dealer's free WiFi.

I effin wish! I want an S3 so bad... I've been given the opportunity to get rid of my Focus at a minimal penalty and get a 2003 S4 though. Problem is the S4 has 198,000km on the freakin thing.
VW thinks that the S3 will interfere with the sales of GTI 2 doors, and in the states, R32's. Or at least thats the explanation I've been given.

That's a bit of mileage. But ya never know, if it's been treated well. This past summer I bought an M3, and it has about the equalivent of 150,000km on it and runs like new...all dealer maintained, with all the paperwork. I know S4's can be pretty temperamental as well, but it's the price of owning a high performance German sports car. If you can deal with annoyances, constant maintenance, and want to forefit having a new car with a warantee...do it up. But only if everything checks out. Have a Euro specialized indie shop or the dealer do a good PPI on it. Those cars cost some cash to own, and not just in insurance.
VW is right in thinking that. Though the GTI wasn't on my list, and the S3 would've been at the top of it if that car was an option. I was hoping we'd see it here, but when I heard about the new R32, I gave up on that notion.

I think the 2.7biturbo is a bit more high maintenance than a straight six on the BMW?
PS. I happen to know a guy who has over 400.000km on his 2.7biturbo Allroad. And he is still using it as a daily driver. The allroad is chiptuned from 50.000km=>
