Just wondering what kind of bass cabs players here are using? How are the Orange cabs comparing? I know they've had some problems with extraneous noise from the grills.

BTW- I'm running a pair of 1x12+ Nahas cabs loaded with Eminence drivers and Fostex horns. Sounds bigger than most 4x10s.

Have used Peavey cabs for a few years now. 410 TX and 210 TX. Sold the 410 when I moved to Holland.

When buying I compared with several other cabs eg Trace Elliot, Ampeg (forget exactly which model), and Hartke. For me the PV's sound was best by far, and plenty of gigs down the road I'd not hesitate to replace with similar. Very good cabs indeed for the money.

Have never tried the Orange bass cabs. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

I used Ampeg SVT 410HLF, Orange 8x10 and also occasionaly SWR Goliath III, Ashdown 4x10, Trace Elliot 4x10 ... Best ones IMHO are the Orange 8x10 and the SWR Goliath. Ampeg sounds to "boomy" and to "loose" for my, Ashdown and Trace I have played not enough to form a good opinion. Same with the Orange OBC410, to short and in a croudy german ass store to form a decent opinion ... Altough, if you play slow kinde reggea stuff, the Ampeg 410 HLF can be the best deep cabinet you can find.

It's just what your tast is like, you want MID, DEEP or BOOM ? :) I also know now the Orange OBC410 has EMINENCE BETA 10A speakers, rated at 250 watt RMS each. IT IS a little difference with my Orange 8x10, which is loaded with EMINENCE DELTA 10A, reated at 350 watt RMS.

Btw Bassdrop, it's that kind of 10" attack and punch I miss with 12 or 15" speakers.

When I bought these 1x12s I ended up trying a lot of cabs through a '71 SVT that I couldn't afford. It was really fun. So I had direct comparisons to Eden, SWR, Trace, Ampeg HLF, Bag End, and Bergantino 4x10s and 2x10s as well as other Nahas cabs. The whole time the Nahas' had this sound that was just so fast and true compared to the others. And the price was nice. The main advantage of the 10" loaded cabs was a certain midrange presence that cuts a little more than the 12s, which is why someday I'll probably end up getting another 4x10 or two.

I've been using a Hartke 1x15 and 4x10 with an Orange PA 120 recently for small clubs. It's been perfect.

theese are the cabs i've owned:

i recently play an ampeg 8x10 which i don't like at all.
Before that a fender 4x12, a peavey 4x12, a musicman 1x15 and a peavey 1516 (1x15+2x8)..

-The peavey 4x12 blow them all away overall.. it never did anything wrong, loud and great sound.. never tried it with my orange though.
-The fender 4x12 -76 was great.. really nice sound but not enough punch.. but in studio i loved it while our technichian did not..
The musicman 1x15 sounded very vintage and warm but did not sound big enough..
the peavey 1516 i didn't like.. it was ok but it sounded metal somehow..

<font size=1><i>my <b><font color=orange>ad200</font id=orange></b> sounds <b><font color=orange>SO</font id=orange></b> amazing..
