i know that Black Sabbath used to use the orange amps, Ike Turner also used them in the Ike & Tina days.
i couldn't really tell you how they sound now compared to the old ones. i guess i would be best to compare the tones some of the older bands got with the tones some of the newer bands get and try to make the distinction. i'm guessing they sound pretty similar.

Hi all,
I'm considering going orange. I wonder if anyone could recommend and bands who use the orange amps... but preferably not modern bands like Oasis, and the Manics.
Do the modern amps still sound like the ones of old?
Thanks,
Ben**

I think that the pictures/videos of Black Sabbath using Orange and Sly Stone are all from the same TV show where Orange provided the backline. Every band that was on that show had an Orange backline which would fool you into thinking that they were regular Orange users. I'd love to hear from others about this but I remember reading that this was the case....

one of the Jimmy eat world guitarists was playing an orange when i saw them in atlanta recently. it wasn't an ad140tc though, it was a 90s reissue of a or80/120.

Check out The Skinny www.theskinnyrock.com. There are a few songs you can download. AD15-12 used on the recording.

I've seen Jewel's guitar player using a pair of AD15/12 combo amps in stereo. He gets a great guitar tone! He uses some sort of pedal board or switcher board for a rack, I'm not sure which, as I was watching on a small tv both times I saw it, but he has his signal split into stereo from what it appears and has the two amps mic'd up; that was all he had on stage, and it sounded fabulous!

Dont forget Stevie Wonder! It was him who got them big in the states. And theres a pic in my guitar mag of Led Zep rocking away! A guy in Paul McCartney's new band had one on tv the other month. And Brian Wilson too on some live gig he was doing over here. Practically all the newer bands over here have them, the Coral, travis, oasis. the list is endless....

The Hellacopters have a whole backline in ORANGE stuff, but the bassit does not use a AD200B, but a older type.
This makes the question about the "new" ORANGE even bigger. Is the OLD stuff better ? Who knows, me not ...
regards,
and hope for the best ...
