For those of you who have played the Rockerverb 50 head AND combo, what do you prefer?

Head + 4x12 Cab

Head + 2x12 Cab

2x12 Combo

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Jason

I've owned both the combo and the head and 2x12. They sound about the same but I had some vibration and tube issues with my combo that steered me toward the separate head and cab - which I should have gotten in the first place. The combo has an open back so that is really the main difference tone-wise as the amp sections are identical. The combo has a slightly nicer reverb tank. The head and cab are easier to move around than the combo - which is heavy as hell. peace.

I prefer heads and cabs. Combos have their purpose, but I prefer a head.

Combos definitely have their purpose, for someone else.

My combo is going to be swapped out for a head, as soon as it arrives. My phone is waiting.:)

I tried a combo in the store and loved the sound, but ended buying the head with a PPC212 cab. I wanted to be able to use the cab with other amps and the head with other cabs. Now that it's here, I definitely made the right choice.

The weight of the combo also was daunting. A PPC212 has more kick than most 412s.

I tried both and their both good but the head & cab just puts out the best bottom end for a guitar amp that I've ever heard. Plus I may buy the PPC112 cab so I can take it to practice and use the PPC212 at gigs.

Originally, I had the combo and the sound is definately great! I also used the combo with an Orange 2X12. Very nice! About a year ago, though, I opted to buy the head version. And... subsequently, bought a 4X12 too. There is no comparision! The head and either the 2X12 or 4X12 just sounds plain meaner and bigger. Combos have their place and this one does sound really good. But, if given it to do all over, I'd go with the head and a cab at the outset.

As you know... combos are usually open back, which won't sound as full as a closed back cab. I've never been a fan of combos, and I've owned a few.

Thanks guys! It sounds like it's a "toss up" between the two cabs. I'll probably opt for the 2x12 due to dimensions, price, etc.

Thanks again,

Jason Farrell
