Slightly off track here... Billy, does it bother you that as only one of over 900 members, you have contributed well over 10% of the entire total of posts on this website forum...?

I laughed when I read it... but couldn't do the math late last night- so you'd have about 5% of all posts then...

If you've got enough money you can buy a Bixonic Expandora II, it costs a lot but is the best solution for the lates '70 sounds. It works amazing with a british tube amp, I heard one in action with a Vox AC30: simply amazing!
Why should I make you sing when I can make you cry?

From what you said the Crowther Hot Cake would be perfect. They're pretty hard to get hold of, but if you come across one give it a try. Worth every penny!

The Mesa Boogie V-Twin is an all tube (2 12AX7's) boost pedal. It's larger than the little solid state ones and requires AC power, but it also offers multiple boost settings and it's all tubes.

My guitarist has a Hughes & Kettner Tubeman. Similar idea, only 1 12AX7. It's blimmin' noisy. Great sound though.

That's exactly what I said to him... still got the original Ruby Tubes one in there, and knowing him, he hasn't changed it.

I know that sort of scenario well enough. At a jam session one guy I know well was having problems with his overdrive pedal cutting in and out. It was just a loose battery connection so a little bit of card stuffed in helped. We said that it was just to get him through the night though - it wasn't fixed!
Same thing happened a few months later. He hadn't touched it - the card was still there... He even acted surprised - DUH! <img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>

Rat on overdrive 120 with single coils for that Jeff Beck sound (a little rounder than on the marshall)Difficult to adjust (the right combination of gain and filter) but when you have succeed it's the sound. I hated it when I bought it because I didn't know how to use it (1987)Now I couldn't play without it.. and built like a tank...

has anyone noticed joe isn't here anymore? anyway... Small faces kinda have a distorted vox sound don't they? he should try the super hard on if he can get his amp loud enough and use that it would sound pretty much like old Small faces. but i prefer the taller faces, with ron and rod

AM I RIGHT OR AM I RIGHT
