I don't know much about rewiring cabs. Is it possible to rewire any 4 Ohm basscab to 8 Ohms or does it depend on what ohms the speakers are?

It definately matters what ohm the speakers are and also how many. If it is a 4x10 with 16 ohm speakers it can only be wired to 4 ohm and 16 ohm. If it is a single 15 then it the ohm can not be changed. I don't believe there is any way to make a 4 ohm cab 8 ohms with out changing speakers.

Hmm that sucks. So this leads me to the next question. Is it common for basscabs to be rated at 8 ohm?
Thing is that I need to get a basscab at 8 Ohms to run my RV through as a bassamp.

It's doable, but some speakers don't get that high. You should take a look at the Peavey Black Widow speakers, as well as the Carvin replacements. Though I'm not sure what the local brand for Swedes would be. I wasn't into speaker shopping much when I was in Finland. But I did pick up "du ar hott". Hope I spelled that right.

"Du är het" maybe?
Anyway, Im not after replacing any speakers, I'm after getting a basscab that's 8 Ohms standard. I'm just going to borrow a basscab but I have the chance to choose which brand for them to buy..

Cannot be done without replacing speakers.
If its a multi-speaker 4 ohm cab, you can wire it to 16 ohms which your RV might be able to work with.

Look no further than Orange. Both the 4x10 and 1x15 are 8 ohms. Infact I think 8 ohms is the common value for many Ampeg cabs also.
