First off -- it looks like your an SG fan so you'll probably like one of those better;)
I personally think a Les Paul owns an SG six ways to Sunday...that said I've wanted to buy an SG for a long time. I probably will in about 2 years as I've already surpassed my gear expenditures for this year.[:p]

I traded that SG in because the neck was chunkier than a pot of Jif and I hated playing it.
A friend of mine has a gibson custom and I loved its neck and it feels great but the les pauls are also amazing guitars. I could get both for the price of one gibby but in that case...which do I get first? haha

I tried one in the store a few months ago and felt that I could never play it well with that middle pickup in the way:(.

I didn't notice it to be that much different, I usually have the pickups real close to the strings too.
corky, where'd your friend get his? I'd like to see some pics of it if you could get some.
I talked to a friend of mine who has the gibson version and he was so pessimistic about a copy of such a nice guitar. I don't blame him though, usually when you think of a copy of a guitar, epiphone and squier come in to mind-most of them are **** guitars.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">I'm thinking they are those ESP 'Edwards', as in the ones Corky has been praising to the moon and beyond. (Which since he's a builder too means they can't be too bad I guess! )
Checked the pic properties and I was right enough:

You get a wonderful view from the point of no return.

All you do is buy a Neck Bezel(Thin) and replace the one that holds the middle pickup. This will drop it down out of the way and stop those clicky picky noises.

I like the way SGs look. I don't particularly like the way the sound or feel (the neck seems to be too far out), for the most part. I've also found them to be less stable, tuning-wise (the pitch often wobbles a bit as you move around). One of those guitars I'll never own, though I do like hearing some other people play them. To each his own.
You're right Leon. Those do have the early small tenon joints. That and the fact that the neck is joined at the last fret, certainly makes it weak. I always wanted one anyway.
There was actually a Custom Model(year unknown..60's) where the neck was joined at the 18th or so fret. I guess it didn't look right and they continue to this day with that weak joint on the Custom.
I still would love one. Only be sure to use light strings only.

I'm not a 3 humbucker man... gets in the way. I like the way the SGs sound, but I don't like the way the heads divebomb or the way they feel too much, which is why I prefer my GS1. Neck set a little further into the body, and just more solid feeling.
