Credit should be given where credit is due and these guys are about as heavy as it gets and have influenced a whole generation of bands (some of whom suck and some of whom don't, many of which have sold platinum). Let's give a little respect, regardless of whether or not you like to listen to them.

I have seen Slayer play live....by mistake???

I wanted to see Biohazard (yeah I know, not quite melodic stuff either) and they played as 3rd on a 4 band bill in Toronto. All the other bands were super heavy and Slayer headlined. I did not want to see the other bands so I tried to time it so that we could walk in and see Biohazard and then leave.
So we walk in and they are between bands so I figured PERFECT TIMING. Lights go down and music starts. We had pretty bad seats so it took a minute before I realized that it wasn't Biohazard...it was Slayer. I had missed the band I wanted to see all together.
Funniest thing though was that after 20 minutes of Slayer I we were not sure if it was still the first song. You could not notice if there were different tunes or artsy pauses within the same song. It was literally just a wall of HEAVY. Needless to say we left after 20 minutes

I don't care if they worship the Dalai Lama. They suck.

It doesn't matter how good your tone is if your songs suck. Total garbage.

Their "first?" Lp, "Reign in Blood" was very cool. I remember hearing that at a rockin', local bar between sets and asking "Who is that?", and I generally HATE metal stuff.
