I got lucky on the one that i bought jan/06 which had mercury transformer. Very reliable and haven't had any problems whatsoever. It's a shame that the RV50 has gone so much crap for problems.

The OUTPUT transformer was not a Mercury..it had no name at all on it..and as I understand, some made at the same time are just fine while others had some troubles...and it should be right out of the gate, so if you had no problems chances are you never will..but for those that had their RV50's a few days and you got noise, buzz, crackling..this is the Trans...
The last batch of Dagnall 50w mains transformers had a few bad ones in there. Not all,but just a few! These date back around the end of last year. the Mercury Magnetics and the Demeter units are fine and we no longer use Dagnall for transformers.

So how do you tell if you have a Dagnell and what distiguishing marks will it have in the event that an amp does begin to have issues?
Also it would be great if you guys could give us an idea of the serial number range for affected amps.
Thanks for the response Ade.

hey thats what I said...hahahahahahaha..My tech said if its bad it will show up very fast...what was funny is when you tapped the cap it worked, so we replaced the cap..then it all went out. no sound at all..put the old cap in and the sound worked but the buzz & crackling was back..then we worked with the dudes at the Orange tech in the USA on line, and we traced it to the power trans..like I said it was suppose to get 6 volts, and it was getting 130...
I hope this helps anyone who buys a new/older store model RV50,and it gets like this right off the bat..well know this might solve the problem...
Do not panic! if your amp has done more than say, four or five rehearsals with no problems!
The transformer is fine!
If there is a power transformer problem its gonna show up super quick!
You guys with RV50's that have had em for a while DO NOT WORRY!

1 year and still going....no worries for me!
I think firebird's problems have a lot to do with the fact that he is micing his Cub Cadet exhaust noise directly into the dirty channel with the gain and volume knobs dimed for 6 hours daily. But that's just my theory.
