Boss OD-1X
Clean Boost
Boss DD-7

I reckon I could do a whole show with just that.

I'd have to go with the classic Bad Monkey trifecta.

How many amps do you get? Then, does an A/b pedal count?

I suppose of my current board: TU-2, BYOC OD-2, Boss DD20

If tuners don't count and I'm in make believe world, then JHS double barrel, and any two pedals made by Strymon - delay and reverb.

-Tuner
-Clean boost (ZVEX SHO or similar)
-Delay (Diamond Memory Lane 2 probably)
If tuners don't count, add a fuzz. Muff style.. Maybe a nice fuzz face. So...

EQD Hoof or my homemade germanium fuzz face.

If I was shooting for "my tone" (though very generic rock) I'd go with Strymon El Cap, Tonebender fuzz I made and probably the TC Mini Spark.

If I was playing in the cover band Strymon El Cap, Strymon Mobius and probably the TC Mini Spark.

..... And a clip on tuner.

Why limit it to 3?

i'd use a single channel amp, set to crunch... I'd go with;
  1. boost - a zvex sho; clean upto half way. kind of fuzz like when cranked
  2. overdrive - catalinbread silverkiss - it's like a 3 band eq with gain, sits on a driven amp nicely - very amp like on a clean amp.
  3. delay - probably an ibanez ad9 - set to thicken leads and add ambiance - i'd run this in the loop if possible.

if i was looking to cover as many bases as possible, i'd cheat and go with the visual sound vsxo premium overdrive, vs h20 and a line 6 m5!

Haha! Are we still making fun of that kid that was trying to get ENGL sounds out of his Orange with a Bad Monkey (or two) in front of it? Someone should have turned him onto the METAL ZONE!

Boss TU-2 (original gangster) -- EHX Memory Boy Deluxe -- EB VP Jr.

If I can live without delay/modulation and I don't count my tuner, my three are:

Boost - Tym Tone Boost
Overdrive - old Boss OD-1
Distortion - Rat ('85 WTFR reissue)

LOL!
(Think that one maybe sunk somewhere mid Atlantic...)

Going to have to cheat:

For bass:
EQ
Compressor
Overdrive
(Or maybe just a Tech21 VT Bass which kind of does all three!)

For guitar:
Reverb
Compressor
Overdrive
(Or I should maybe just grab an old AD30R...)
