You could buy a Squier and get a conversion neck (maybe). I think it would fit the neck pocket, although I think there can be problems with imports not having standardized neck pockets, hardware, etc. I'm pretty sure the Bass VI neck will fit into a standard Jag/Jazzmaster neck pocket but don't quote me on that. But, the necks cost so much that you'd still be way up there in price and be playing a Squier, which isn't bad, but a $700 or so Squier might not be such a worthing investment considering the pickups and hardware may not be top shelf. I'm thinking the most fool proof way is to make sure to buy bodies and necks that are built to Fender spec like Mighty Mite, Allparts, Warmoth, USACG, etc., plus that way you can choose color, neck specks, tinting, etc. Probably run somewhere around $800 to build one me thinks. I want Nitro, gloss neck with tinting, etc. If I don't like it, I'll sell the neck and turn it into a Jazzmaster I guess.Randy Bass wrote:I agree about the Wild Thing being ugly. No wonder this Cure song sounds so cool (High). I always wondered how they get it to sound like this... Two Fender Bass VIs playing the lead lines, plus bass guitar.indianDYsummer wrote:Randy Bass wrote:It's too bad Squier doesn't make a Bass VI yet.

They had 2 bass guitars one of them a baritone IIRC... certainly helped give them a distinctive sound.
Ha ha thanks...savage8190 wrote:Man, Im not a huge fan of bursts, but everytime I see that LP in your sig I want one! What is it?OrangePaul wrote:^That sounds great for live!

That sounds pretty awesome. If not that combination, I'd probably go for Sonic Blue with a white/black/white guard and a Rosewood fingerboard.OU818 wrote:Actually, just visited Warmoth and am now really tempted to grab a Bass VI in Lake Placid Blue, white scratch plate and birdseye maple neck.
All for under $700.
No threat there. I'm skint broke until probably late Feb and still have a Gibson LP to pay offbaytamusic wrote:If one of you guys makes a blue Bass VI or Jazz/Jag Baritone before me I'm going to cry.
