My friend that I sold my AC30 to has his ppc4x12 collecting dust now that he can plug the AD30 into the blues in the Vox. He was bent over the V30's for a while but anyone who tells you the V30's are better can eat cat scat

I'm just interested to see how much the G10 golds are when they come out. I've got a 410 crying out for a speaker upgrade.

I've tried most of the webers accept for the Gold.
In my opinion I would go for the Celestion Century
Vintage 12's.

Have to agree with Mark......My amp has EL34's but those Century Vintage really give me that top end chime! Love them.

I just sold a cab with a Silver Bell. It was great. Love that tone.

Hey clay, I just threw a blue dog into my 2x12 avatar(now its a g12h30/blue dog combination). Adding the blue dog took away all the harshness of having two g12h30's and sounds great. I wouldn't compare the alnico blue dog at all to the vintage 30's I've tried. Not sure about the ceramics though as I've ever tried them.

I love the sound of the alnico blue dogs (ceramics too). Pretty much every one of them eventually starting "cone-crying" though. Weird yowls/screechy overtones. Not right off the bat but after a 9 or 10 months or so, typically only a problem when playing loud with a good deal of gain. If I only played clean, I'd love those speakers. I've got a Southbay Ampworks G12H30 type speaker (also made by weber, but different from the blue dogs and their regular Celestion clone spkrs) in my Magnatone Troubadour and that's not done any yowling, at least not yet.

Bandeapart - Eminence has a slew of guitar speaker clips on its site for their newer lines of speakers (go to Guitar and Bass Speakers, then there's a link to sound clips towards the upper right). I'm really diggin a number of the Patriot speakers myself...Love the Cannabis Rex and Lil Buddy. I also really dig the plain old Eminence Legend in a lot of Fender type amps.

I have a 2x12 cab with a Private Jack and a Wizard,
I think it is awesome. Have the Governor in a 1x12
closed and it is great as well.
Try the Eminences if you can, they are super in my book...
Simple comparison...

Governor - V30
Private Jack - Greenback
Wizard - G12H30

those are the three that I am using, amoung others and
they are similar to the originals, but I personally prefer
them to the Celestions.

...and don't forget the Celestion Century
Vintage, I am totally blown away by that speaker!

If I recall correctly Eminence's Red Fang is their take of the Celestion Blue.

I'll have to give a listen to that after I finish my little run right now.
