Hi,
I have an Orange OR15 head currently powering a single PPC112 cab.
I was thinking of buying another PPC112 but my local music store has the PPC212OB on sale.
Can the OR15 power both a PPC212 and a PPC112 at the same time? Both cabs are 16 ohms I think and the OR15 has outputs for 1x16ohms or 2x8ohms.
Would plugging in a 112 and 212 be a bad idea?
Thanks in advance.

Sure can! You plug each 16 ohm cab into each 8 ohm outputs. Two 16 ohm cabs in parallel is an 8 ohm load. You can also daisy chain the cabs, and plug into a single 8 ohm output, it’s the same thing.

So it's all good to have mismatched number of speakers. Excellent, thanks!

Yes, whats important is the impedance.

However the 212OB could well be the only cab you ever need.... I think if u get one you'll soon forget about plugging in the 112 ....

+1 You’ll likely forget all about the 1x12.
The 2x12 is a great cab, and is quite light and compact for a 2x12. Load it with smaller magnets and it becomes even lighter.

Re: OR15 head powering a PPC112 and PPC212
So the general consensus is to buy the 212OB rather than an additional 112.
I guess with prices here in Australia, it would probably be cheaper to buy a 212OB and sell my 112 than to just buy a 112.
Cheers everyone!

I quite like the sound of the OR15 through the 112 and it works fine for me as I don't get out very often
If I did though, I'd buy the 212OB in a heartbeat. When loud enough to sound "boxy" with the 112 the amp just sounds bigger but still boxy with 2 x 112!

Re: OR15 head powering a PPC112 and PPC212
I use a CR120H with two PPC112's but have never tried it with a PPC212. What I tend to do now is put one 112 either side of the stage where I am able and it can sound fantastic in the right room with a fuller spread. Other times I stack one on top of the other as to me it sounds better than side by side. I'm not sure how this would sound with an OR15 though. I am the only guitarist though (apart from bass), so there are no real worries with conflicting with others on stage.

I am trying to make a similar decision with my OR15 and PPC112. Please let us know what you decide. I was leaning towards the second PPC112 just because it was more cost effective but am very curious to hear your results once you make up your mind.orangetastic wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 11:53 pmHi,

I'm still pondering
I think the decision will be whatever comes up second hand not too far from where I live in the near future...
