Well, a fake chinese copy of one anyway...

arrived in no time flat (apparently) and surprisingly ok... needed to be setup, neck feels a little fat, but pups actually dont sound horrid.. looks the part, plays well enough and its a present..so cant complain.. i think a '59 Les Paul just went on my Xmas list!!..lol

Congrats i suppose?

I've never gotten to play a Chinese copy yet, but I know they can make some nice instruments.

How do you rate it?

I think it was like $250 delivered, so in that context i rate it pretty high.. quality is not as good as PRS and G&L imports, but also a lot cheaper..
I have always wanted to check an SG out, but can't throw down for a standard sight unseen so it was this or a stripped down Epiphone.. so with expectations set pretty low (the price) fiar to say that its better than it should be.

There are 100's of manufacturers on AlieExpress, so just spent time looking for a manf. that had lots of decent reviews..

It sounds pretty much what i was expecting, with a lighter timbre more similar to a Les Paul DC than to an LP, but perhaps brighter still.. be interesting to stick some known pups in it and change the (plastic) nut.

can certainly see why they are a good match to Orange amps... and i blame this forum for the purchase :D

Cool!!!

I blame this forum for a lot of things too.
;)

I like my SG bery much. A cheap gibson 70s tribute I got 2nd hand. It's a great player, super light, and the upper fret access is superb.

I've been looking at the aliexpress guitars for awhile, I know a guy who got an Ace Frehley LP and was surprised how good the quality was for $250. I'm just a little leary to lay out cash and no guarantee I'll get anything at all, they are illegal and can be seized at customs.
