TT or OR15; I want a lunchbox amp!

Re: TT or OR15; I want a lunchbox amp!
Today I ordered an OR15 + a PPC112. Both in black, of course... Switched to 7 watts and cranked the little bastard sounds amazing. And you don't need earplugs...

Honestly... not sure what's more pointless... having several amps and cabs that are all fairly similar and excessive... or having a 100 watt FULL stack in your bedroom.Bensnake wrote:I realized that buying an OR15 when I already own on an OR100 and a Rocker perhaps is kind of pointless.

As long as you're pleased and no one gets hurt, nothing's pointless...

Thunderverb 200. Need I say more. Attentuate that booger if you get nosebleeds easily.
Re: TT or OR15; I want a lunchbox amp!
I'd say AD200 actually over the Thunderverb, since you can't cut the power down or use any built in attenuator... you're stuck with the full 200 watts, into a 8x12 full stack of course. The AD200 actually sounds phenomenal with guitar, but most people don't know this.

Not that I doubt you on the AD200, but I think you may be mistaken on the Thundeverb 200. I own the TV50 which has a built in attenuator same as the TV200 (actually PPIMV if you want to get technical). I can honestly say that it's THE best amp I've ever owned for home use after trying several amps that you would assume would be better for that purpose. I love the tiny terror, but even that amp set at 7 Watts pales in comparison to the TV50 with the attenuator set at moderate levels at low volume.0000 wrote:I'd say AD200 actually over the Thunderverb, since you can't cut the power down or use any built in attenuator... you're stuck with the full 200 watts, into a 8x12 full stack of course. I was expecting to use my Dual Terror set at 7 Watts for home practice and the TV50 for jamming, but after trying both the TV50 was so better for home practice over the DT than it was over the DT for jamming that I went in the opposite direction.
The TV50 is definitely not the best bang for the buck home practice amp... but I personally haven't heard a better low volume tube amp regardless of wattage.

I need pics of those new amps! Btw I have the 4 watt version of that vox and it sound great. Nothing wrong with been able to get what you want. You work for your money and can spend it however you want.
There is nothing like a fender clean, but there is nothing like an orange crunch

Let's not be bitter about a man enjoying his amps! Let's live through him vicariously.

I just ordered one... Arrives on Tuesday. Have you asked your dealer? I think every model is available in black.JimmyOhio75 wrote:Where did you find an OR15 in black? Almost twice the wattage for sure... My two OR's are obviously quite similar in tone. I like having two amps with the same tone but different wattage as you're able to play at any volume depending on circumstances. Are you experiencing similarities in sound with your amps (TV and DT)?DiabloS wrote:Damn! It's like you have a super sized version of my setup!

Re: TT or OR15; I want a lunchbox amp!
Yeah, I mostly like having the 2 amps because I leave one at the house and one at my jam spot. The DT and the TV50's channel A definitely have some similarities in tone, but the TV50 has a bit more thump. The DT is nice cause it's super portable too so I really love the 2 amps for different reasons. My cabs aren't quite big enough to re-enact the back to the future guitar scene like yours though..hahaBensnake wrote:Almost twice the wattage for sure...
