Orange TH30

Post by Legend » Wed Jan 09, 2013 3:37 am

I'm new to the orange family and wanted to get some opinions. I come from the Mesa amps and want to an orange to the herd. I played to Dark Terror and liked , does anyone have and like this amp. I play rock/metal.

If you liked the dark terror, you should like the TH30. Added bonus would be a great clean channel.

Welcome to the forum! You'll find that Oranges have a great tone flavour. Very different from Mesas, not as tight, but warmer.

Let us know how you get on! :)

There's not a TH50 (unless Ive missed something) but there is a TH100 which can attenuate down to 70 or 35 watts. Never used one but very similar to the 30...except can be much louder and as its a 100 can have much higher volume clean cleans than the 30

They aren't very similar at all, despite the names being similar. The Thunderverb 50 doesn't have near as much gain (3 stages vs. the TH30's 4 stages) and doesn't have a dedicated clean channel (either channel can be set to clean or dirty). From what I understand, if you like the Dark Terror and like a lot of gain for metal, the TH30 would probably suit you better and it's much cheaper to buy too. The TV50 can do some types of metal, but it's not really ideal for tight modern tones. It's a bit more classic/fuzzy sounding vs. the TH30 being more mordern/tighter/fizzier sounding. The TV50 would do stoner rock/metal (Down uses them) or hard rock well, but it wouldn't be my first choice for all types of metal due to its voicing.
