micro terror and ppc108 is here!

Post by Mrjones2004x » Thu Aug 09, 2012 11:28 am

Well, really small! Big volume and really good sound I'm glad to report. I bet it would be awesome through a real cab!
Both units are really well made at a high quality and the amp comes with a JJ preamp tube.
The cab is very mid rangey but quite equally ballanced in respect to bass and treble.
Sound what I would imagine a TT to sound like through a little 8inch speaker. Same gain levels as a tt and the tone control works really well. Above noon it gets quite bright and looses its bass.
The aux input works well and the strange thing is the amp volume also controls the level of it too.
It does seem to be quite noisy with my lp with the p90,s tho which is the first time I've had this issue with this guitar. Not cables or power issue as have tried others. Maybe its normal for p90's just my last tube amp my bugera v5 was practically silent.

Here's a few pics. Sorry if there big as there uploaded from my phone to photobucket. One pic compares the size to my micro cube. Also there's an internal shot too if interested.

Just gotta break in the speaker now and test into a bigger cab.

Ok just looked into the cab. Didn't expect it to be chip board. The back is made of hardboard which isn't real proper wood! The back is about 5mm thick! Cab materials are shite but its well mde

wow, that thing is SMALL! It's the size of your pedals!

That's good to hear that it has a good sound, I bet through a big old cab it would really open up and sound big. Weird about the noise with the P90, but my SD P Rail has always been noisy through all my Orange Amps, so I'm used to that I guess. Congrats on the new guy in your stable!

The noise with the p90's gos away when playing tho. Its not really really bad but i dont have a humbucker guitar to test the levels against.

Yeah, that's to be expected in normal play then. I think it's just the way these single coils are!

For the cost of the PPC108 I was expecting to see an Amateur Loud Speaker, but I'll be damned!

That speaker really does look the business. Regardless, I want the Micro Terror and PPC-108 quite badly now that I've seen some real pics and an honest assessment of its' tone.

Thanks for the GAS!

I have been running mine with humbuckers and it has quite a bit of output! I bought this setup for my office to use on lunch. Perfect combo for that!

I'm not going to lie, I'm very tempted to get a Micro Terror and two ppc108s along with a Bad Cat Unleash unit to gig once.

well, you would have to get some bigger cabs i'd think (what's the rating on those?). but that does sound sweet...

I have the PPC108, just waiting for the MT from a friend. I have a spare ZT Lunchbox cab lying around. I tried it with a Little Smasher head. I found that using the Lunchbox cab in conjunction really helped make the sound fuller. Even though it's only a 6.5" speaker it's just enough to drive it well out of the boxy 8" range more into the range of a 10" speaker, and of course the better spread of 2 speakers helps too. I imagine 2 PPC108s would make for a great sound.

I got my Micro Terror last week and overall it sounds very good and a lot louder than I expected!! I am however pretty disappointed with how much noise and hiss is present when the gain is turned up past 1 o'clock. I was really looking forward to using it with headphones for "silent" practising but the sound through the headphones (in my opinion) is shite. I'm pretty disappointed but maybe I was expecting a little too much. I don't think I'll be keeping it for long......

Pretty much the same as I think overall. Really loud. Easily blows any 5 watt tube amp I've had for volume. Can't remember how loud the tt was but I bet its similar.
Mines up for sale to fund pickups.
