Re: OR50H Review
Thanks, I have really considered one of these. It wouldmnot be my main amp so I have struggled a little justifying the decision to get it. I would feel alot better about it if I sold my Rocker 30 head. I'm still not sure if I want to keep it or not. I have the thunderverb and to me It covers about everything the rocker does but has reverb and a more usable clean tone. The rocker does sound a little different so I'm going back and forth thinking maybe I should just keep it and get the or. But I will only allow myself to have so many amps at a time and I just don't know if it makes any sense to have the rocker 30, the Or and the thunderverb. I just don't know if there is enough versatility among the 3 to have them all at the same time. Oh well decisions decisions. Thanks for the review.

Re: OR50H Review
Sounds kinda muddy. There's also some sort of crackling or something in the background. Thanks for posting the reviews.

Unfortunately I have to agree, I found it to be quite muddy as well. Does that have any relation with the HF Control?baytamusic wrote:Sounds kinda muddy. There's also some sort of crackling or something in the background. Thanks for posting the reviews.

Re: OR50H Review
I spent about an hour with one in a store and from what I remember it did not sound muddy at all, maybe its the Hf drive maybe the microphone.

Re: OR50H Review
I have an OR50H. The "Muddy" you refer to can be accomplished by turning the HF control all the way down, and made worse by subsequently cooking the bass; the HF controls a combination of gain and presence, so when it is all the way off, the timbre is nearly gone from the signal.
Of note, when the HF control is all the way up, the gain increase offsets the presence increase, and it never sounds icy or tinny. I guess that's why the picture over it is a little fist![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: OR50H Review
Do you play with the HF cranked or do you use it in various positions? I have not yet played with one enough to really figure out where I would want to dial it in, it seems to vary pretty significantly for a single channel.

Re: OR50H Review
Errr... no!The OR50H is not a new product. It belongs to the "Pics Only" series launched in 1972.
The OR50 isn't brand new - it is a reissue. But it is a reissue of a 2008 model not of any of the '70s amps!

It may be very good, but lets not pretend it is something it isn't!
