I've always thought Robert Smith and Porl Thompson from the Cure are underrated as guitarists. They never play in a look how great I am style but the Cure have been writing some of the best guitar based pop for decades.

I also think Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heart-breakers tends to get overlooked in some circles.

Agree with Turner and Powell from the most under rated group of all time.

thoroughly agree on all counts

was great to see the cure with no synths and porl back in... after seeing a couple of their big stadium shows which were quite frankly boring - and this is coming from a 20+ year cure tragic...

i just wish they'd made a decent album since disintergration :(

a few glimmers of hope but overall - it's a bunch of arse

Ian D'sa from Billy Talent. He is fantastic and rills both rhythm and lead roles simultaneously.

Yeh he's a keeper. Adams has sung his praises many times. That solo from 'Cuts Like A Knife' is still a wonder.

By now I doubt Mike Campbell is considered underrated or underexposed but Tom Petty would rather cut off his leg than part company with Campbell.

There are probably loads of sidemen who aren't 'rated' at all simply because they are sidemen.

Obviously the Wilson sisters are the focal point of Heart but the guitarists on their harder 70s stuff (Fisher & Leese) deserve a tip of the cap.

Yea. . . Waddy Wachtel comes to mind. Seen him play with Stevie Nicks. Great guitar player.

Alex Lifeson. Well he's got to be the most underated member of Rush anyhow lol. And yet Alexs Rock Guitar work from mid 70's to early 80's has got to be up there with the best of them from that 'golden' period.
Paul.
