Jamison,
How do you like the SP43?
I have been thinking about those Steel poled strat pickups for a while.
I am not a fan of strat bridge position tone (I am thinking about doing a humbucker or the SP thing).
As of right now, I use a Fender Am. Std Singles.

It rocks..mine reads 9.14. Not sure if it's full strength or underwound because I ordered underwound Blues Specials. I'de liek to hear it at full strength if it not right now.
I'm having some issues with this new guitar though, and I'm just trying to balance everything out. The braz. rosewood fretboard and ash body has a lot of zing and very fast attack. I had played this setup before on a Grosh I demo'd and loved it though.
So basically I'm liking the SP43 and will take a little more mids/output if I can get it. And on the neck/middle, I'd actually liek a littel more glassy, quacky, stratty goodness but I also need to take the edge off the attack, it's a littel harsh metallic as I said. The guitar is new and tight and needs to be "played in" as well.
The Dimarzio Area and Virtual Pickups are really sounding good to me right now. So are Lollar's A2 Blondes with perhaps a Special in the bridge.

The SP43 is a 10% "underwound" version as they are 10k stock. That is still a very high output pickup. It's a weird mix as the Blues Specials are not nearly as high output and underwound are actually very clean and vintage sounding.
I have a few Strats. One I put a set of the Fralin Blues Specials in. Another has Fender SCN with the S-1 switching scheme. Another is a '57RI and does not have the reverse wound middle, but does have a 5-way switch. That's rather interesting for me as it's the first "non-reverse wound middle" Strat that I have heard. I also have a Squire which I have dropped an upgraded pickguard into containing Dan Armstrong pickups which are interesting, clean and rich at the same time but not really my cup of tea. Then I have a stock Squire.
