Re: OT: Learning to play the drums
Just don't overthink it. Honestly, a trained monkey can hold 95% of rock beats. You'll know this soon enough. Paradiddles and rudiments aren't rocket science. If you start going into complex polyrythms and flares, it can get spectacularly, mind bendingly difficult--especially in weird times. see her...

Funny. Yet depressing.
My girlfriend, who works in childcare, sent me this snippet from a recent memo: Where possible, fencing should be designed to allow children to view the outside world. This enables children to make connections with the activities of their local community. It also supports the development of long-ran...

Re: My Film Score
I think its great. I quite like morning star , also. How are you getting this harp-like tone? Is this something done during production or are you using a pedal? In any case it's very effective. One thing I find strange is that if I had to pigeon hole this music, I wouldn't tag it as metal. I'm heari...

Re: Starling's bad GAS thread
those prices almost look too cheap for what you get. Mahogany/basswood really isn't that expensive in terms of lumber. Koa, walnut and some maples can sure as hell get up there. You have to remember also that this stuff is coming out of china...christ knows what these workers are being payed per ho...

Re: Help with buying a strat
Strats aren't the property of fender anymore. Loads of builders are making some really nice ones. Mine - see sig pic - is made by vigier, and is much better than all custom shop fender i got to try, by a long way. Yamaha pacificas are meant to be pretty good too - though you have to understand thei...

Help with buying a strat
so I'm in the market for a strat, after having played LP types pretty much exclusively since forever. Thing is, I have next to experience in playing strats and even less knowledge about good makes and whatnot. How do some of the vintage (well, at least old) Japanese and Mexican made models compare w...

Re: I mean seriously, come off the grass
That's what it's worth... not out of control. Find another if you're in the market for a CAR 63 Strat all original! Not that I'd pay it, but it's a rare guitar and that's what they go for.... especially when you add Australia into the mix. It's probably the ONLY ONE in Australia! I wouldn't be surp...

Way OT--Have a hand in hitting back at the banksters
For everybody out there who is feeling the squeeze right now as a result of unethical conduct by the fractional banking system, you have an opportunity to feel vindicated, albeit very slightly. There is currently an Avaaz campaign which is aimed at helping to push through new legislature which will ...
