Re: Fake OBC115?

Doesn't look like typical Orange Tolex, but there were some early AD series Orange tube amps that used that tolex, not sure if these cabs were a thing yet during that time. You can feel along the sides if there is an indent under the tolex where the pinstriping would of been recessed,a thin groove i...

Re: Fuzz roundup

I had no idea this forum was still going. Glad to see it! This was always my favorite music-oriented forum. I am a big germanium fuzz fiend. I especially love distortion into fuzz. My main fuzz is still an Analogman Sunlion (white dot NKT). It's got that beefy, creamy, Kyuss-like sound, and it's th...

My favorite fuzz only was the BAT Pharaoh.

My absolute favorite fuzz/dirt/noise pedal has to be the WMD Geiger Counter (non pro) :)
I had both of them at one point. Great pedals! The Pharoh was all the rage at one time but I don’t read much about it anymore.

Re: Can I put 12ax7 instead of 12at7 in the effect loop?

It will work, but the 12AX7 might not be as clean and clear as the circuit is designed around the 12AT7 and it’s gain structure.

Re: Fuzz roundup

I love fuzz pedals, just to mess around on. I have a handful at the moment but have owned a couple dozen over the years. Hard to say what I like best, theres a lot of variation of sound which is what makes them fun to play with. Theres some I think I’d like to have again like the Red Witch Fuzz God...

Really? That's weird!
A little, I got it sorted. Had too many special characters in my post I guess, brackets, colons, hyphens etc... Never had that happen before though.

Re: Jim Root Terror Schematic?

Had to remove some brackets and colons to get it to post

Second stage coupling cap, JR= 4n7 OR15=2n2
Tone Stack slope resistor, JR= 39k OR15= 47k
Tone stack treble cap, JR= 1n , two in series OR15= 470pf , two in series, essentially half capacitance in the OR

Re: Jim Root Terror Schematic?

Not a lot of difference between the two. There are 4 component differences. Both amps have a preamp that is very similar to the Rockerverb mkl dirty channel preamp, I've yet to see schematic for MKll and MKlll so I don’t know exact values in those amps but will be similar if not the same. JR has bas...

Sonically, I doubt that there is any discernible difference.

Your back, however, appreciates the two lighter cabs.... ;-)
