Re: Is my amp too loud?

Yep, my TH30's clean channel causes ear pain if I accidentally go 1mm too far on the volume knob :| I wish it was spread more evenly throughout the dial. There's a fine line between not enough juice and causing physical pain on 30 watt mode especially, but I do find that mode sounds best if you can ...

Exactly! My clean tone was quite midrangey and the RC30 just filled everything out and broadened the sound nicely.

NPD: Xotic RC Booster

http://media.musiciansfriend.com/is/image/MMGS7/RC-Booster-Clean-Boost-Guitar-Effects-Pedal/H81673000000000-00-500x500.jpg I'd been looking at clean boosts for a little while and this was among the tops on my list, so when I found a used one locally I jumped on it. After a few days of getting acqua...

Re: NPD: Wampler Euphoria

Have you ever had the OCD by any chance? I'm wondering how they compare..... I haven't, but I did watch this comparison video the other day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUrZJwyEWRk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There's another up there too. They both sound great to me, but I li...

Re: LETS SEE SOME PEDALBOARDS!!!

Added some custom knobs from Tayda Electronics to the Maxon OD808 and Alter Ego (they're about 0.49 each, great way to customize your board for fun), sold the EVH Phase 90 and added the Wampler Euphoria and Tomkat Bender, and picked up some color label stickers for the power cords so they're easy to...

Re: Refinished SG - De-robotized

Gorgeous guitar! Is that a Jazz III XL I see in the second pic? That's what I use! Yep, it's a Jazz III XL pick. I can't even find them anywhere in stores locally, so I have to order them online but they're worth it! Yeah, I buy mine in bulk from Strings and Beyond online. They have free shipping t...

Re: NPD: Xotic SL Drive

I have the SP Compressor and quite like it. I found it works great for feeding an endlessly sustaining signal into my bender fuzz, which wasn't something I even thought of when I bought it. Happy accident there! Xotic makes great pedals for sure. I was a little sad sending the SL Drive back because ...

NPD: Xotic SL Drive

I spent a good 6 hours trying every setting (including every internal dipswitch combination) on both clean and dirty channels today, as well as a little stacking with the tubescreamer and SP compressor. I think I've come to the conclusion that it's not for me, but here are my observations for anyone...

Re: Dirt pedals for a loose/spongey tone

Interesting stuff! Thanks a.hun! I'm still over the moon about this new world of stacking different gain/dirt sources. That softer response just makes everything feel incredibly easy to play now, like the amp is singing on its own and I'm just helping it along. I got a great deal on an Xotic SL Driv...

Re: Dirt pedals for a loose/spongey tone

Just thought I'd update to say I've been able to get the response I was looking for just through further tweaking of settings. I found a nice sweet spot using the tubescreamer to add some dirt in front (gain/drive, not just volume boost) and lowering the gain a little further on the TH30. The differ...

Re: Dirt pedals for a loose/spongey tone

Your SP comp not helping there??? Andy. On the dirty channel I find using the comp tightens things further and makes the response even more clinical and precise. I go back and forth between using it as an always-on thing or as a solo boost. It's definitely something I've spent a lot of time testing...

Dirt pedals for a loose/spongey tone

One thing I find with my TH30 is that the dirty channel's gain is extremely tight, too much so for me these days. I've been trying some fuzzes and drives in front of it to add some texture, and it made me realize how much I enjoy playing with a bit more of that loose/saggy/spongey response as oppose...
