Re: TH30c Channel switching not working
You need to take the amp somewhere else and try it. That is the symptom of low voltage out of the wall outlet. When there is a low voltage situation, only the second channel will work... Hi Billy. Wasn't that just a silly issue with some old AD30TCs. Is it really still a problem with more modern am...

Re: JRT 8 ohm operation
You checked the manual? https://orangeamps.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Jim-Root-Manual-V16.pdf Yeah, run a single 8 ohm speaker from the 8 ohm output. Use proper speaker cable. No it won't lower the output wattage. Unlike solid state amps valve amps will put out their full rated power into...

Re: 6550 in Rocker 30
Also love the (JJ) 6CA7 in the Rocker 30. Mine came with them stock.
Don't think those JJs are exactly typical sounding 6CA7s though, so can't comment on others. But these ones really do give the amp some proper grunt.

Re: LP / tiny-terror /MIDS
Hi Aj_TinyTerror, and welcome. Do you have the same with that guitar through other amps? I'm wondering if it is to do with pickup height? May be that they are adjusted too low / far from the strings. Then you'd indeed have too little low end so that the upper frequencies would dominate. Might just b...

Re: Where is the Fuse on Crush 20 Amp ?
Hard to believe that switch isn't located inside the amp where idiots can't get to it. Yeah, well there is a whole new generation of idiots these days taking things to whole new depths. Time was when that sort of thing wasn't needed unless you let very young kids play with your gear... Andy ...

Re: Where is the Fuse on Crush 20 Amp ?
KO is almost inevitable. Everything would have got double the expected voltage and it isn't surprising something burnt.
That guy owes you a new amp - simple as that!

Re: New cab day. Anyone have a crest/emblem? I just bought this 2x12!
Looking closely at the photo, that just looks like residue hot gun glue. That won't come off with water. I removed one of the badges from my R.30C. (The one right over the center of the single speaker, getting in the way of a mic!) Used a sharp hobby knife to very carefully pick away all the ...

Re: Overdrive or Distortion pedal to replace Gain preamp?
My take on what Nick was saying on controlling it all from the guitar... Yeah, I'd suggest getting used to using the controls on your guitar first, just like they did 'back in the old days'. Some of us still prefer it to just stomping on a box anyway... :D Basically you use the volume on the guitar ...

Re: TH30 newbie, need advise.
'Perfection' is overrated anyway. Rolls Royce once tried 'perfecting' the old torque converter automatic gearbox they were using by polishing up the blades inside. Even though nobody would ever see them they wanted them beautiful. Trouble was they just didn't work as well - the slightly rough surfac...

Re: TH30 newbie, need advise.
What's benefit of having balanced tubes in phase shifter position? No benefit, don't bother with it. Agreed. The main people who will tend to suggest otherwise are valve suppliers who are trying to get a bit more money, or people who believed them. The arguments may sound convincing but are basical...

Re: Orange TH30 head... ohm my god, I'm confused!
I assume that A) and B) are both correct. Thank you for help! Yes, they are both correct. The only real difference is where the cabs are linked in parallel. Daisy chaining the link is at the first cab, running separately the link is at the (parallel linked) 8 ohm outputs on the back of the amp. Eit...

Re: RV Mk1 50W Combo Dirty Channel Sounds Terrible
Not the power valves if you are getting good sounds from the other channel.
Yes, try swapping out the relevant preamp valves - one at a time - and seeing if that helps. You know about the valve layout guide at the top of the forum?

Re: Micro Dark..the perfect vocal microphone amp!!
Always cool to find alternative uses for gear which work a treat. I went the other way years ago, buying a small 10W valve PA amp to practice vocals with. A mate suggested plugging my Strat into it - total revelation. Superb cleans and the smoothest overdrive you can imagine. Just bunged a couple of...
