NPD and NPBD!

So, I took that Stratocaster back to the shop and they only do store credit. So I had $700 store credit to use! So I decided to get a couple pedals and a pedal board. I picked up a power conditioned SKB hardcase pedalboard. Then a Moog MF Drive pedal and a Boss Digital Reverb. Then today I used a gi...

Re: Who likes

I'm not blaming Nirvana. I would have taken the money too. My beef is with all the masses and media that act lik they sprang out of the abyss with this 'new sound" that "changed the world" when they didn't. In fact, I think Kurt felt really guilty about it because he knew that they didn't really de...

Re: Who likes

This may not be a very popular opinion, but here it is.... Nirvana was the band that ruined alternative music. By no fault of their own, they were chosen by the industry to cash in on a segment of music that the big labels had never been able to crack. The indie scene was huge, unbending, open to do...

Re: Good portable backup (or gigging) amp

I have a Crate Powerblock that I use as a backup, super loud and very easy to bring with me with its carrying case.

Never seen one of these Tone Blocks, looks pretty sweet though as well.

Re: anyone tried the new Gibson melody makers?

Do you have an american SG? If so I'm not quite sure why you would get rid of it for a MM. This is a great point, why not swap out pups and try some humbucker sized P90s? My SG is a '96 American and I wouldn't think of ever selling it! Hell, you could even route out the body if you're sure about th...

Re: anyone tried the new Gibson melody makers?

That's why I keep the Seymour Duncan P-Rail that's in my Standard always set to P90! Been thinking of swapping for two Phat Cats.

I've realized that I am a P90 man!

Re: NGD - Stratocaster Content

Nah! Impetuous maybe, but not "silly". Hell, I've done the equivalent myself many times over the years with remote purchases of amps and a number of other high-dollar items sight unseen - spontaneity can be a real hoot sometimes! You win some, you lose some - strikes and gutters. Its all good. Rega...

Re: NGD - Stratocaster Content

Yeah, its pretty enough, but if I'm reading this right, your entire evaluation of this unit has been based on acoustics and appearance - have you actually plugged it in to an amp yet? To be perfectly honest, I'm not much on the American series Strats. I've purchased a total of two Strats in the pas...

Never heard of those pups, will have to check them out. Thanks for the recommendation!

Re: NGD - Stratocaster Content

Aways found it funny that Strats are so unpopular on this here forum, yet Teles get big . But then I got a Tele myself, and find it way more different from a Strat than I thought. And yes, it certainly works better for me with some amps. Still do like a good Strat though. I love both in fact, but t...

Re: NGD - Stratocaster Content

Well, I will say. I really love the way this guitar feels/looks and it sounds great unplugged (albeit in need of a proper setup as the low E buzzes a little here and there). I played it yesterday at band practice and it cuts through the mix - a little too well. It stands out to a fault and doesn't r...

Re: NGD - Stratocaster Content

Thanks!! Yeah, I like a guitar that is well-used, not a museum piece - something with character! It didn't have the trem arm with it, and I actually forgot to ask anyways. But I will likely give it a run through today at practice and then drop it off back at the shop I got it from to have it setup (...

NGD - Stratocaster Content

Well, I've been in the market for a Tele for a while and went to check out some guitars at a local shop yesterday. Saw this 2001 American Fender Strat sitting there and decided to give it a whirl. Didn't even plug it in, just played it acoustic and it sounded and felt great! Whoever owned it previou...
