There is a website that lets you compare AND actually listen to different amplifiers, although Matamp isn't one of them. I think it's proguitar.com or guitarpro.com....or something to that effect. I get back to you with the website. It's on my "favorites" list.

I hate those spade connectors. I always take them off and re-solder all the connections. As far as re-biasing...even Mesa/Boogie amps, which are a "fixed bias" amp should be re'biased after tube changes. Aspen Pittman who wrote the Tube Amp Book suggests re-biasing after tube changes no matter what ...

I'd go with the vintage as well. Although, I'd probably change the speakers to Celestion Vintage 30's too. I haven't found a better speaker yet! You could cut your own 2x2 and stick it in the cabinet if it's missing the front to back piece. I did that on a Marshall 4x12 cabinet I owned.

I found out that the Rola speakers you're talking about are actually Rola Celestions. Check out the Celestion web site for more info.

I've seen several amplifiers for sale on ebay that contain Rola speakers. Since they appear in guitar amplifiers, I'm not sure whether you can use them for a bass amp. I would check with a dealer in your area to get some background info on them before playing your bass through them.
