Re: NGD frustration: strat, ad30

Yeah, as above.

Check the other groundings in the controls cavity as well, to make sure nothing's come loose or is pressing against something it shouldn't be.

Re: Looking for a mandolin

Ok, mandolin on the way!

Going to put a pickup in it, and was thinking a K&K or JJB Electronics twin spot transducer. Any advice as to where to put the jack? Endpin, or further round the bout?

Re: Just had my ears micro-suctioned...

How does it work, Paul? Do you just rock up to the doctor and ask if you can get it done?

Re: Looking for a mandolin

Ok chaps...

Used Eastman MD305 plus Gator hard case for £275. RRP on the Eastman is about £425, and about £50 on the Gator case.

Deal or no deal? It seems fair going on the difference between the new & used USD$ prices.

Re: I think I need a buffer

That's a fair point. As always, give it a go in both, and see what works...

Adjusting the gain on the wireless will help too!

Re: I think I need a buffer

But still shouldn't make any difference if you were to have it at the front, especially for the occasions when wireless isn't in use...

Re: I think I need a buffer

Input impedance has a lot to do with it. If the wireless system has something which gets involved there, it might help.

Having said that, if you don't play wireless all the time, it's not going to help.

Re: I think I need a buffer

If any of your pedals are not true bypass (like the old Boss ones), you can shove that at the front of your chain and it will work as a buffer. The alternative is to simply adjust your amp to compensate. You're going to lose a little signal strength, and probably a shade of top end depending on what...

Re: Looking for a mandolin

Not disputing that at all... as with any of these things, i'm loath to shell out bigger bucks until I know I was going to stick with it! But the budget always seems to go up and up... unfortunately, for anything not made in the UK or EU, you can take the dollar price and stick a £ in front of it, so...

Re: Looking for a mandolin

Thanks Mike.

The KM150 is all solid woods (unlike some of the cheaper Kentuckys) and seems to have been pretty well reviewed for a basic model.

What Eastman model would you suggest I look out for?

Re: Cut Fingers

We've got this stuff called Germolene new skin you can paint over the top of small cuts and grazes. It stings like nuts for a minute, but it covers over the wound and stops stuff getting into it. If you keep agitating the wound or rubbing it against your guitar, it's going to take longer to heal, an...
