Re: Fractal Audio Axe FX Ultra or II

I stepped away from amp modulator units, after my experiences with a Behringer V-Amp 2, a number of years ago. Moving from Behringer to Orange was like dumping Susan Boyle for Elle Macpherson. You won't get a better drive than the RV dirty channel, but if your still into multi fx you should check ou...

Re: OT: Tips on Tipping

Cool. I'm glad to see the tipping is pretty consistent. Looking to have a good holiday, and I didn't want to offend anyone. Thanks for all the input!

OT: Tips on Tipping

I'm finally a month away from my trip to Hawaii. Just wondering if any of you American fellas can fill me in on the tipping etiquette? We tip in Australia, but It's not really compulsory. I understand it's much different for the Americans. Who to tip; and how much? Taxi's, Waiter's, Bartender's, Bel...

Re: Someone was talking about investing...

I bought a load of good quality studio gear and a Mac computer. Spent a year or two working out the kinks, and charged my time to record friends and amateur bands. That's where I got the money to buy my Orange. For the first time in my musical life, I got a return on my musical investments! :D

Re: Upcoming gigs...rhythm guitarist just quit, opinions?

I would tell him to stay home for the night and bi-amp my guitar with his rig!

Tackling lead and rhythm roles? No need to share the glory or sonic space.

Maybe get the bass player to play with a bit of distortion or boost some mid frequencies. That can fill out the sound too.

Re: pricey speaker cords - are they worth it?

The length of the cable matters. Guitar has a low impedance and for this reason can lose high frequencies over long distances.

But pedals will be your true tone sucking enemy!

Let me tell you about out-of-hand.... http://www.theallens.theallens.com/guitars/index.htm?detectflash=false&" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and as mentioned, my signature which doesn't show all of my amps... Honestly... How long did it take to photograph all these guitars?

Re: I need help deciding

I don't play heavy stuff, but between the TV50 and the RV50, my pick was the RV50 hands down. But that's my choice only and plenty people have gone the other way. The only reserve I would have about the TV50 would how loud can your cleans get - i'm sure someone will chime in on that. Bear in mind t...

Re: Who makes a living with music?

I always listened to my father, and stopped my music education at high school, applied to study a Bachelor of Business in Marketing, and worked in administration in the construction and development industry. But after 5 years of hating, deferring and not finishing my course, stressing, being diagnos...

Re: Pedal Vs No Pedal

Pedals are my precious... My board houses 13 at the moment. I like having tonal variety.

But sometimes there ain't nothing better, than an electric guitar plugged straight into a valve amp!
