Re: Used NAD - Thunderverb 200 - new to Orange

If you can afford it, and space and weight and all that is not an issue, then I'd go with the 412 100%. You have the power in the amp, you might as well use it or have the option of running full power. I don't think you'll notice too much tonal difference - if nothing else you'll maybe hear some mor...

Re: NGD!

Very nice! That's the same finish I have, only mine is a '96. I do love that they changed back to the half pickguard style. Here's an older pic of mine right after I had the p-rail put in. All the knobs are disconnected, and the neck volume knob is the one that controls the pup volume. And the 3 way...

Re: Catalinbread Pedals? Echorec, specifically!

How'd it work out? Dang, sorry I forgot to respond man! So far so good. I haven't gotten to really use it yet with my full rig - once at band practice over a week ago, through my back up (Crate Powerblock) amp, and then just here and there at home on my Crush. But I dig it. I don't like the Echorec...

Re: PONO

On a somewhat subjective note I don't think that Beats are that "high quality". They basically just enhance certain frequencies, to make them sound "better", in the sense that most young kids want to their facial features shaken off through excess amounts of bass. Beats, Skullcandy, SMS Audio, it's...

Re: PONO

That name being one "R" away from something else is somewhat distracting. "You spent how much on a porno?"   Dammit, I can never unread it that way now.... I do agree that the name is a little silly though. I get the idea behind it, but they should have thought that out a little mor...

Re: PONO

Oh this is an excellent idea! I find it so funny to see some kid with Beats headphones on listening to what is undoubtedly a very compressed music file on a portable device. I really don't understand the idea of buying super high quality headphones to listen to compressed lifeless tunes. For me, mos...

Re: Saw Earth Crisis Friday - X Shaped Guitar Cab Content

Those triangular cabs are strange! I wonder how true that is about them eliminating the "beaming" aspects of box cabs? Yeah, the X cabs were definitely a gimmick, and from what I could hear (the place they played is not the best venue for good acoustics) they sounded good. I didn't get up close to t...

Saw Earth Crisis Friday - X Shaped Guitar Cab Content

My girlfriend is a long time Earth Crisis fan and they played a venue in Baltimore on Friday so we went. I love me some of that 90s metal core - Strongarm and Shai Hulud are two bands I grew up on - but never really listened to EC. Anyways, both guitarists had these cabs: http://dbinstrumentamp.com/...

Re: Sovtek Mig power issue

Tough to sort out. I looked at the MIG 100 schematic. Only thing I could see being a possible issue there is it looks like there is a voltage selector swith for 240, 230, 120 and 100 volts AC on the PT. Without knowing what type of voltage is at your practice room, I wonder if the Voltage is lower ...

Possible, I did not give them the amp power cord when I dropped it off. But I think, I could be wrong though, that I used the same power cord going into the Crate.

Re: Sovtek Mig power issue

The crate worked but the Mig didn't? But the Mig worked with the tech? Yup. The techs could not recreate the issue with the Mig in their shop. I really think it's got to be something power source related with our practice space. But still weird that other stuff would work in the practice space and ...

Re: Sovtek Mig power issue

I did not try it without it. But I did use my back up amp (Crate Powerblock 120 watt) through the Furman, along with my TC Alter Ego pedal. I don't the specs or nomenclature of my exact Furman off hand, but I'm pretty sure it's okay for use with high power stuff - I used to use my OD120 through it a...

Sovtek Mig power issue

Thought I'd post this here to get y'alls thoughts on it. So the other day I was set to practice, at our space, had my Sovtek Mig 100h plugged into my Furman, and then that into the wall. Our Rock Garage recently had some power issues, and an electrician had come out and gotten us to half power. The ...

Re: Orange sighting

Yeah, Brooks and Shawna (at Big Crunch) know their stuff! My Sovtek is being serviced there right now. Great shop and I'm excited that they are making amps now, would love to get one one of these days. Not sure if I one-knob would work for me or not though, as much as I love the idea.
