Yeah, sounds like a valve problem. First I’d try swapping each preamp valve out (and the PI slot valve) with a known good valve. Failing that the power valves...

Re: Terror Bass 1000
Has anybody actually contacted Orange on this? Maybe an idea???
They are usually great at helping with any issues. I'd be interested to hear what they say...

Re: speakers / cab question
I'd suggest thinking about grabbing two Mesa Celestion MC90s. They suit big Oranges really well. Better than either of the ones you were thinking of. Think more an H-30 sort of sound, and they are very efficient too so 2 in a good cab would slay!

Re: Variations in early to mid 70s OR120 amps
I know Nick doesn't like the master volume Oranges but I love 'em! I think they make the amp very usable and with the master all the way up, you can use the gain like a volume control and it's pretty close to a non-master amp then.... With Nick on this one. Yes, with the master up mine sounds great...

Re: R30 Natural and Fuzz
...so in this forum i've said disparaging things about the natural channel on my r30. the dirt channel is excellent and the more i play it the more i love it. i just rolled in a pair of gold lion kt77's and holy #$%+ what a difference - very plexi-ish. so after reading this thread this morning i de...

Re: Red Plating
Cathode biasing isn't the 'automatic' biasing many people believe. It does 'self adjust' to an extent giving a certain amount of leeway for slightly different spec valves, but valves which are way off normal spec (for whatever reason) may still lead to problems. I have a slight memeory at the back o...

Re: Rocker 15 or Crush Pro Cr60
Be interested to hear which you guys eventually choose, hopefully after having tried both out. Haven't tried the R.15 yet - no rush as my R.30 isn't going anywhere. Do like the idea of the amp, especially the 'bedroom' settings, but don't 'need' it! Have tried the Crush Pro 60 though and was very im...

Re: Crush Pro 120 direct recording
I don't see why using a load box wouldn't work. It's doing the same thing a speaker does. Something like the Mesa Cab clone. Some of them are ONLY for valve amps. My THD Hotplate is one example. From the user manual: Q. Can I use the Hot Plate with a solid state amp? A. NO! The Hot Plate and the po...

Re: Vintage EL 84's in Dual Terror ?
"Don't have enough voltage?" Well, the amp supplies the voltage to the valves, so I've no idea what that means... LOL Some amps (actually a lot of amps running EL84) run them quite hot. So whilst your not hurting your amp running it with RCA's, you may not enjoy the longest life for these val...

Re: TH30c Channel switching not working
You need to take the amp somewhere else and try it. That is the symptom of low voltage out of the wall outlet. When there is a low voltage situation, only the second channel will work... Hi Billy. Wasn't that just a silly issue with some old AD30TCs. Is it really still a problem with more modern am...

Re: JRT 8 ohm operation
You checked the manual? https://orangeamps.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Jim-Root-Manual-V16.pdf Yeah, run a single 8 ohm speaker from the 8 ohm output. Use proper speaker cable. No it won't lower the output wattage. Unlike solid state amps valve amps will put out their full rated power into...

Re: 6550 in Rocker 30
Also love the (JJ) 6CA7 in the Rocker 30. Mine came with them stock.
Don't think those JJs are exactly typical sounding 6CA7s though, so can't comment on others. But these ones really do give the amp some proper grunt.
