Re: Or120 too much for 120W cab?

My 70s Orange can chuck out 165 Watts clean with a fresh set of EL34s in it . . .

Re: Possible R30C speaker problem

So long as the Roland speaker can handle the power, yes it is fine.

Re: Rocker 15! Wow!

It a Rocker, Jim, but not as we know it!
A stereo Rocker? Intriguing.
I wonder just how similar this is to the Tiny Terror circuitry x 2.

I still prefer my 2xEL34, 1x12", no effects loop, no bells, no whistles, just plenty of wallop Rocker.

Re: RV100 MkI

What output tubes do you have in there?
They look like KT66 or KT88

Re: RV100 MkI

This sounds a bit a bit of arcing in the tubes when first switched from standby into 'on'. Try switching the amp on in a dark room and see if you can see anything. The other thing you could try is not using standby mode at at, just going from off to full on. You don't really need standby switches. h...

Re: Old Orange roll call

Definitely a 70s amp. There's something not right about your impedance selector though. If your amp was an OR80 conveted to OR120 by adding the 2 extra power tubes (and keeping the same output transformer, as this was common to OR80s and OR120s on the vast majority of 70s amps) then your impedance s...

Re: A little Rocker 30 vs Marshall DSL fun

Something sounds out of tune when you are playing parts in E (like at around the 24 second mark). I'm not sure if it the guitar or bass though . . . I think it is more likely to be the bass. Anyway, for me the Rocker sounds nicer for the chords, the Marshall sounds too sharp. I'm no fan of high gain...

Re: How do I connect my dark terror to a Marshall MG412A?

The MG412A is an 8 ohm cab so connect the cab using one speaker lead to either one of the 8 ohm outputs on the back of the Dark Terror. The 8 ohm outputs are wired in parallel. If you had 2 x 16 Ohm cabs and wanted to use them both you could connect one cab to one 8 ohm output and another cab to the...

Re: Weird.... Thoughts?

The ohms reading for speakers is in fact impedance, not pure DC resistance, and will always be higher than the DC resistance that you measure with a multimeter. see here: http://www.bcae1.com/resvsimp.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Definitely don't try and measure with a signal c...

Re: Rocker 30 possible preamp tube issue.

I'd try the preamp PI first if it's on both channels but even newish valves can get faulty. With the Rocker 30 the V1 preamp tube is common to both channels too (each channel uses half of it). That said, one triode could go weird whilst the other stayed the same I suppose. It's only V2 that is used...

Re: Weird.... Thoughts?

A popular bias is 38 mA for a 50 watt or double that for a 100 watt. I forget what percentage this is somewhere between 60-70%. This is not good advice at all. You don't double the bias current for a 100 Watt amp. The bias current is the current flowing from plate to cathode per tube in a fixed-bia...

Re: I can't find a wiring diagram...

I've already tried a half-watt size (seems much too big) and it does not allow the light to function. Bear in mind that the LED is polarised. That is, it will only work one way round - it only allows current to flow in one direction. http://boysdad.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/LEDlabel-300x199.pn...

Arrgh, that's really annoying, because the CRUSH PIX CR50BXT bass amp does! Forgive me.

Re: Uses for Cabsim-loaded headphone out

The headphone out with cab-sim should be fine for home recording. The trouble with using a headphone out in a live situation is that whenever you plug something into the headphone socket the amp speaker is disconnected, so the amp itself is quiet. The Crush Bass 50 also has a line output. You could ...
